• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. I hate Rolling Thunder...

I still suggest Hanover Powersport in PA. Ryan is the best and does whatever it takes :).... One day you will see the light ;-P Great prices and will schedule. If you take the hike, I will ride with you up there. It is a nice ride up 27...

I second the opinion that Trumbull Motorsports in Southern Maryland is the place to go. Great service and staff and the only thing you will find with wheels there is made by Canam. They are also a Canam platinum dealer with parts in stock and on display.

It is a small business and you will deal directly with the owner. I Have been very pleased with them in every way.

Good Lord! I was in 23 years but when it looked like my next set of orders was going to be either unaccompanied to Seoul, Korea, or more probably, the Pentagon, I decided to retire. I had occasionally had to take the CINCLANT helo up from Norfolk before and saw enough on those visits to know that I would go nuts in the "Puzzle Palace" and my wife and kids would probably leave me for someone who had a respectable job (like piano player in a cathouse). Hats off to you, brother.
Thanks...The 2 tours there were both the best...and the worst of my career but gave me the opportunity to really see D.C for what it is...The Capitol of our country. The place is absolutely amazing..Words can't describe how I felt about visiting all the historic sites including those not far from D.C...Like Gettysburg, Antietam, Manassas...You're also exposed to some of the best and worst people of our country...Overall it was a truly amazing time of my career.

Dave

I feel your pain with Coleman's in Fall Church and they are my nearest dealer, 10 miles from work. It took them 19 day to replace a valve cover gasket that was leaking oil on my Spyder. It was several days to look at the Spyder, had to order the gasket which took a week to arrive and then several days to install the gasket after it arrived.:banghead:

I like Coleman's for some of their online sales and state inspections but I will be traveling elsewhere for major repairs and service. I have used Fredericksburg Motor Sports before but I will probably be making the 80 mile one trip to Virginia Power Motor Sports (VPMS) in Ruckersville, VA. VPMS takes appointments and I would rather take a nice 160 mile roundtrip ride to get my Spyder back as quickly as possible.

Good Luck

WOW

Didn't realize their were "non appointment" service depts out there. What a dumb concept. Wonder how they would feel if their car dealership worked that way. And I know how it is trying to go an extra few miles in a metropolitan area. Sometimes that can mean extra hours instead of extra minutes in commute time. Good luck and hope you get Spyder back tomorrow.;)

I liked Trumbull. The only downside, and unfortunately it was a significant one, is they don't have a waiting room, and there is literally nothing around. I ended up spending about five hours on a hot day with a book sitting out in the lot with my back up against some Can-Am shipping crates, interspersed with a hike to a nearby WaWa. Not ideal (but better than two weeks!)

In a perfect World; I'd agree...
But:
Some of us lack the space
Some lack the tools
Some lack the time
and I lack the talent! :opps:

:agree: What the wise guy said.

I do plenty of my own work, but I have a driveway, no garage, and my tools are limited, and I admit I'm no good at half the stuff I do. :banghead:

Plus, it's not like I can do the inspections and stuff to the BRP warranty standard. I don't trust BRP as far as I can throw 'em trying to get away with that stuff on my own.

Let me know if you have a long service planned down there, I'll come with my car and drag you to a movie or something (there actually are stores and stuff down there but you have a few miles to go so, it's not hiking distance.)

Can -Am Service Appointments

The Can-Am dealer that I deal with in Vermont, last year I called them on a Tuesday( they are not open on Sundays, or Mondays) and they usually have the part there. If they don't have the part there, I usually talk to Service Manager and etc. There are 2 Can-Am :spyder2: dealers in Vermont. Deanna777:ohyea:

I forced myself to learn how to check the oil level, air pressure in the tires, and brake fluid levels...
Anti-Freeze is still on my "Gottalearntodothis" list :opps:

Other than that; I'm limited to farkling with the stuff that's not electrical in nature, that I can get my hands around easily, that I can see how it connects and disconnects, and whatever I can do without the Missus finding out that I'm doing it! :opps:

I have two dealers in my area, one is 40 miles away and the other 112. Although they both take appointments and in both shops everyone is really nice, the dealer that is further away has a BRP trained tech that really knows his stuff. When I come in, he gives my bike his full attention until it is done, plus they let me hang out in the shop and I help when an extra hand is useful. The closer dealer once took 3 days to do a 14000 mile service and two of those days were trying to change the brake fluid. I just consider myself lucky to have a good place to go for service, no matter how far away.

Dave, my Spyder needed some attention before the owner's event. Everyone I called locally had a 3 week wait before they could see me. I found a platinum dealer in Hanover, PA - Motorsports, Inc. They could see me immediately. I trailered the spyder up the next day - 2 hours. Best decision ever! When I went back to pick it up I was ready to pay a couple of hundred dollars in labor for diagnosing the problem the way I do with my local dealer. I picked up a bottle of spray cleaner and was told I owed $11. What??? Yes, just pay for the cleaner, everything else is covered by warranty. AWESOME! They even fixed a few things - like a faulty gas gauge - that I never noticed had a problem. For sure that would never happen at my local dealer. It is a LONG drive but the service is excellent, from the first call to the tech perfectly lining mu spyder up to the trailer for us to load. Top notch all the way. My husband was rewarded for coming along by a visit to the Snyders of Hanover factory store. Got himself lots of pretzels to munch on.

I take my spyder to the Woodbridge Coleman PowerSports, which is a few miles from my house. When I took it in for the 600 mile checkup they told me it would be a couple of weeks before I could get it back. I complained to the manager about this, since the spyder is my primary source of transportation. It took them two days to get it back to me. I will be taking it to a different store the next time. My last visit to the store was for an oil change and to fix the actuator for the remote frunk release, which hasn't worked properly since I bought it new. Got the bike back and the remote release still doesn't work. Was told it was the switch now, and they would have to order a new one. It has been two weeks and still no new switch. After the last two oil changes I had to put the side panels back on correctly, which hadn't been done at the shop.

Sorry you could be with us

My first and hopefully not my last Rolling Thunder. Quite and experience. Three of us left Thursday and stopped in Grafton, WVa over night at a state park camp ground. US 50 from Grafton to Winchester, VA was interesting in the rain on Friday. The only thing I'd like to see is signage to get you into the Pentagon lots. Aside from that I've got nothing but good feelings about the entire trip.

Curt

Gotta go update my map.
