• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I Hate Giving Up But...

I gave up trying to replace the plugs and wires on my '12 RT. Removed Tupperware from both sides, removed top of air box (practically no oil in box, yeah!), removed six Torx screws holding air box to TB, and attempted to move air box up out of the way to see/access the front cylinder plug. No luck, air box wiggled and that's about all I could get it to do. Tried to reach the front plug using the Lamonster "reach around from left side" method and was able to feel where the front plug was located. However did not trust myself enough to start trying to remove the wire boot from the front plug. My thinking was if I couldn't remove the plug wire and damaged it in the attempt then I might be in a pickle with an in-op Spyder 35 miles from my dealer. So, bottom line is I'm gonna have my dealer replace the plugs and wires with my on hand Bajaron plugs/wires when I have my 14,000 mile service done around the end of this month. Whatever it costs it will be worth it...so I keep telling myself over and over.

Wish I could have done this work myself but....

Exactly the same happened to me.
Removed all the tupperware, started tracing out the wire path.
Said out loud What the F--K.
I'm pretty good with a wrench, and I still decided to have my dealer do it.
Third best decision I ever made.
First was to buy the Spyder.
Second was my last divorce.
Third was to have GSS Powersports replace my wires/plugs.

These Spyders are NOT designed to be worked on.
Another example is changing oil. Remember how difficult it was to do routine oil changes before the panel was redesigned ?

 I was getting nervous when I saw your thread. Glad to hear that it's not the BIKE that you're giving up on!

No way Bob, I love my Spyder. My first year Spyder owner anniversary is next week and I have ridden over 14,000 happy miles so far. Just hate the idea that I can't do what ought to be a routine maintenance task. But, I'll not fret too much, since I have a platinum dealer tech that I can rely on to do the "too hard to do" maintenance for me.

Does the RT have the tubes sticking out the front like the RS? I found that once those were pulled inside the air box it came out easy. Without pulling them in it isn't happening.

Sounds like this project went the way of my exhaust wrapping last year. I needed three child sized hands to make it happen, so after a week I gave up. It took me a week, because some of us don't learn! :(
