• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I Guess That Harley-Davidson...

"The company said the tuner was designed and sold for off-road and closed-course competition". :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

How many Harley riders take their cruisers off road or on a closed course? None...

Thats like the new Mustang GT comes standard with a line lock with the disclaimer.... "For track use only". Really? Like thats going to happen.

It's just not MC's. Diesel truck owners have been buying programmers for their trucks for yrs to beat the emission systems. They were sold as "off road use only"...

The only difference, is they were aftermarket systems, not sold by the truck manufacturer.

I had one on my diesel. The replacement cost for the DPF , was triple the cost of a aftermarket exhaust system and programmer that deleted all the BS emissions.

It's the industry way. Do whatever sells and makes dollars. Damn the rules. Find the proper "weasel words" to make enough disclaimer to avoid trouble. Unfortunately, that does not seem to be working very well these days. :roflblack::roflblack:

Be careful guys. Its the same legal standing that allows the sale of power commanders and primary muffler bypass pipes for the Spyders.

This over reaching action by the EPA has far reaching implications. None of which are good. This settlement was A BAD THING for the car and bike hobbyists.

 I fear that you are 100% correct. :gaah:

Anything that alters the factory approved system will leave the seller open for EPA prosecution. You know those CAT delete pipes and computer re-flash's, guess what, tag your it.

This is not about making the air "Cleaner" it's all about the $$$$. 20 years ago I was in the quarry business, twice a year we got a safety inspection from Mine Safety and Health Administration AKA MSHA, for 9-1/2 years we were told that as long as a man couldn't be injured by a machine it didn't need to be guarded. On the 10th year after the funding was cut to MHSA all of a sudden a pulley 30 feet in the air was subject to a fine. The fine was just enough that it wasn't worth contesting but high enough to more than cover the cost for the inspector.

Well I paid the fine but unknown to the inspector, because of a business slowdown and increasing Gov regulation it had gotten to the point that it was no longer worth continuing. My partner and I made a deal to lease the quarry property for a store. The same inspector showed up for the next inspection the day before we auctioned off all off the equipment. My comment to him was that all of my employees are now safe, they are all unemployed and that without guys like me we won't need guys like you but everyone is safe.

Think about the true cost of Government when you go to vote.

And then there's ethanol...

Eeeek!!!

I have a Screaming Eagle 'Power Slide' on my HD!

Am I askeerd of the hefty fines EPA will issue to such a miscreant?
No... They have to prove it's there.

Will they want to spend the time to find out if the offensive product was installed?
No... They're looking for deep pockets and a shock value.

Harley was stupid enough to market their own brand of tuner. Or is it relabeled?

What if I installed a power enhancing item on my Spyder?
Read the above...

They got them for tuners now. There are all sorts of aftermarket accessories labelled for off-road use only that will sooner or later come back to bite the manufacturers if the EPA wants to push it far enough.

I know that many here are old enough to remember rivers that would catch fire and smog so thick you could hardly breathe on bad days.

Before all of these onerous government regulations and outrageous jury awards it was cheaper to maim or kill a worker or a consumer than it was to take steps to prevent such occurrences. Why take steps to line a landfill to protect drinking water when it's cheaper and less burdensome to let pollutants leach into the ground? Cars would be cheaper without all of the safety provisions required on them. If the government didn't require MSDS info for chemicals it would be cheaper to make numerous products.......not to mention quicker because then workers wouldn't take the time to put on PPE.

Yep, that's just what I want...........to go back to the good old days! Back before the :cus: government got so intrusive........NOT!!!!!!

There's a reason for rules and regulations in the marketplace and workplace and we may think they're ridiculous and over reaching. Are they a pain in the ass to deal with sometimes? Absolutely! But all I have to do is remember what the environment was like when I was young and imagine what it would likely be now without the EPA. When I think that some OSHA or MSHA regulation is making my job harder to do, all I have to do is remember my buddy that was killed 80 feet from me because a shortcut was taken at work. Every OSHA and MSHA regulation is written in somebody's blood. I would venture to say the same for the EPA.

When products are sold with disclaimers that are obviously stated with a wink and a nod, then I don't get too upset about them being targeted. After all, it's pretty clear that it's usually a thinly veiled attempt to circumvent the law or regulations.
