• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I got the new DPS installed today

Looks like the Part Number is 709400963 for those who asked on a different thread. I have 1,400 miles on my new Spyder an the steering stuck and the notchy feeling showed up to raise its ugly head, so I took It to the dealer and they did the up dates and where not satisfied with the out come so they called BRP and were given the go ahead to install the new DPS.:2thumbs: It really made a differance, I think the steering is even a little tighter, in a good way! The install time was under 2 hrs.

I'M FORTUNATE TO HAVE A GOOD DEALERSHIP AND I GIVE THE SERVICE DEPT AAA RATING (NIELSEN ENTERPRISE INC) The tech there are well educated in the ways of the Spyder and were very helpful,I think they must of had some customer service training, if not they like what they do. What I thought was the start of a nightmare, turned in to sweet dreams!:firstplace:

:congrats:

It is great to hear good stories like this one. Hopefully this new DPS unit will be the end of all the steering problems for everyone who has experienced them. Thanks for sharing your experience with us, and please keep us posted as to how your Spyder continues to perform.

Thanks for the info. I don't mean to hijack this thread, but does anyone know if the new DPS is a one size fits all. I did a little digging and found 4 different part #'s. I don't know if 2008 was superseded by 2009 anyway here is the break down.

2008 709400544
2009 709400453
2010 RS 709400453
2010 RS late production 709400928
2010 RTS 709400770

Randy, I don't know what the original number was on my 08 SM5 DPS was but, that was replaced in Sept 2009 with part number 709400453. This one was replaced in Aug 2010 with the part number 709400870.

I have felt something in the new DPS unit but, not since checking the relays and finding one loose. From my past experiences with the DPS, its now always in the back of my mind. I know not to trust it and when my dealer gets these new units in. I will take it over unless its during Thunder Beach coming up, at the end of the month. I got a PM from Bill and he said he was staying overnight and ryding home Sunday.

After missing the poker run with Ed and Cheryl, I'm not going to miss this with Bill and whoever else is coming. I know your going to SitS and Bill said you will most likely be working that weekend. But have fun at SitS and ryde safe.

Maybe I will try and hold off and let them install a few before I take mine in. I did have some squeeking and some lubricant to the 2" riser took care of that.

Talking to the tech I know, he said everytime they rebuild a new DPS, they put a new number on it. How many they build with each number he couldn't say.

Amen to that brother!:D

I also do not want to hi-jack this thread but my dealer called me today about the recall and the new units aren't in yet but not to drive my Spyder until the DPS is replaced. Do you guys think I should park it?

No
If you're not having an issue with it now then don't worry about it, just be aware.
