I found the best LED headlight bulbs! NEW PICTURES!!!

Like many other people that have tried LED headlight bulbs in their spyder, I was not happy with any I tried. I tried the bulbs sold by the sponsors here on Spyderlovers. I even tried a set of prototype bulbs I got from a friend who works for.... a lighting company. Nothing I tried worked well enough or bright enough. So I have been on a mission to find a great LED headlight bulb. I am happy to report that I have found it!! I bought a set of these http://www.ebay.com/itm/YITA-2PCS-1...ash=item41ad25036e:g:5gEAAOSwM4xXbKoL&vxp=mtr.

Actual pictures from my RT. LOW BEAM..............HIGH BEAM

They are 4-sided and have a small ballast. They fit completely inside the headlight and foglight housings. The headlight fit is tight, but it does fit. These lights are very bright!! Unliked other leds that only shine on 2 sides, these shine on all four sides just like the halogen bulbs it is replacing. The light output is amazing!!!!!! And I mean AMAZING!!! Over the last few months I have spent hundreds of dollars trying different halogen and LED bulbs. Now my search is over!!!! Oh, and the price? $32!!!!

Now the ryders on here that have tried LEDs and were not happy finally have a solution! Check them out!
Its says high/low beam, but they are not. They are single beam.
Check page 2 for links to bulbs for other Spyder models!

 Joel,
Can you post us a pic of the nighttime results? :2thumbs:

I would like to see that, too. We don't ride much at night because the deer we have in this area of the country are huge as well as plentiful! And, may I add, extremely stupid!

Personally, about the only thing I dislike about our Spyder is the headlights. THEY SUCK!!!!

LED - HEADLIGHTS

I forgot to ask :opps:: what is their output in lumens? :dontknow:
60 watts - 4000 lumens - per bulb ......TricLED & LaMonts are also 4000 lumen's ....... Mike  ......... I will say this ...COBB -LED's are a lot brighter than usual type you get in most LED lighting !!!!!!

I cant speak for fitment on the ST. But they fit my RT. Use 9005 for headlights and H11 for foglights in place of H8's. They might be the same 4000 lumens as the ones sold by Lamonster, but these are 4-sided! Which means more of the light is reflected out onto the road and all of the projector lens is used. I will try to get a picture, but I am leaving for vacation so I dont know when I will get to it.

Please let us know how these hold up. Sometimes the fans fail, sometimes the leds burn out on some models of led lights.

Just like you, have been trying to find a good led bulb that totally engaged the entire reflector for the proper beam pattern. Every led bulb I tried sucked compared to the HID's that I installed on the Spyder. So at this point still using the 5,000k Hid bulbs in the headlights and fog lights and very happy with them.

The ones you chose solve the issue I have with led bulbs, emitting light from all sides. I think most of the folks on this forum do not understand that the projector beam lens needs to have light focused on it at all sides by the reflector to have the proper beam pattern and brightness. Most all of the led bulbs do not do this, and are a compromise. Folks see the brighter light and think wow, this is great.

What they don't realize is they just gave up some of their beam pattern for that extra brightness. And where Meg and I ride at night, excellent beam pattern to see that deer ready to jump out has saved our asses more then once.

I wish you great luck with these, and keep us posted.

Did everything fit back into the control box OK, or did you have to do some modifications. Also how difficult is it to get at, I am new to all of this. How hard is it to do 1 being easy and 5 being difficult. If it is being the latter I guess that I would have to bring it to a dealer to do it for me.

I'm starting to be reminded of what I saw in Lake George at the first Aspencade Touring bike rally.
We saw lots of high-powered bikes with Canadian plates on them; a lot of them were Honda's CBX.
Every one of them seemed to have a set of Cibie driving lights hooked to the highway bars. I asked on of the riders why they needed such a powerful lighting setup.
He told me that if a Moose stepped out into the road in front of him : he wanted to be able to burn a hole through it, and keep on riding!

Re- LED

These bulbs are described as "High & Low " beam. My RT only has One "Beam" adjusted by a high and low Baffel. ???

H9, 9005/HB3?

Joel:

I'm a little concerned about this set-up. The RT's take a H9 bulb which is a single filament halogen. The LED you are speaking of is a HB3/9005 with high/low beam capability. Was this a plug and play or did you have to modify the connector? Do you know if it is running in high beam or low beam on the LED?

H9? What are you riding? The RT takes 9005 for the headlights and H8 for the fogights(H11 also fit and is what I used). Everything fits inside the housing with the cover on the back. No modification. Plug and play. The foglights fit easy. The headlights are a bit trickier, but they fit.

1- remove headlight
2- remove rear cover and stock bulb
3- turn headlight adjuster until there is enough room for the ballast to fit above the projector.
4- insert bulb after ballast is in the space above the projector.
5- place plug along the side of the bulb and arrange it until rear cover fits. Make sure it does not interfere with shutter.
6- plug headlight into bike and test before bolting back in. Be sure to test high and low beam to make sure shutter moves freely.

Joel:

I have a 2011 RTS. The "Green Manual" calls for a headlamp H9, the owners manual just states "2 X 55w." I'm not doubting you, just trying to make sure all the ducks are in a row. I'll just remove one of my lights and see exactly what it is. There may have been a bulb specification change between my 2011 and your 2014.

For $30 I just purchased a set of H4 for my wife's F3. Hopefully, they will be better than the other ones I tried. With LED COBs on 4 sides, these should work much better than the 2 sided ones I tried last time.
