• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I feel like my 2012 RT is now obsolete

My 2008 GS is never obsolete. I love it and is irreplaceable.

I bought one of the first 2008 GS SM5 sold in southern California
When I moved to Bridgeport California my ridding habits went from short around town and canon ridding to long distance touring type ridding
That is the only reason I purchased the 2014 RTL
The GS was great and I would not have sold it just for the triple and extra mileage
I just wanted the features the RT had

I would still love ridding the GS if I had it.

Your 2012 is just as fun today as it was last year. I did replace my 2010 for mechanical reasons, but I wouldn't have paid for the upgrade simply for the new ride.

Here's a way to perhaps think about it - you can justify a new Spyder by putting enough miles on your old one to, more or less, wear it out. Then, you'll trump all of us with your 2015, 2016, or 2017 (flying) Spyder.

Tunes and Smiles

A radio is a radio whether it operates on transistors or tubes doesn't really matter. As long as it will play your favorite tune. The spyders not much different to me. It's not about which one I have. It is about whether it brings about a smile. Mine still does. :doorag:

Spring finally arrived here on the Canadian prairies and I have to say that my first ride of 2014 on my 2012 RTS left me smiling all day. Would I like to have a 2014? Of course. Will I be sad on my 2012? Not a chance. I am going to ride it like I stole it and smile the entire time I am riding it.

I'm still ryding my 2011 RT-Ltd and plan on doing so for quite a while yet. Everything is and will always be the same. Technology moves forward very fast, thank God for that. Imagine if everything always remained the same,,, we'd still be in the dark ages,,, without spyders of course! Now that's scary. Keep in mind I have had no issues whatsoever with my Spyder.

Ehhhh

With all of the posts and pictures of everyone's 2014 with all of the fabulous changes, I feel like I might as well just leave my 2012 in the garage. Seriously, I wish I had the money right now to buy a 2014. I also don't put enough miles on the current RT to justify changing it. I suppose when and if the weather in Pa gets better I will feel better about the machine.

I have not been on here much recently, but wondered what the real world differences in terms of MPG, Range, heat issues and so forth are between the 2012 and 2014s?

By the way, I am sure this topic has been addressed many times, but with my lack of participation on the board I missed them.

Anytime me I feel my 2012 RT is obsolete I look at the bill of sale and the title which I hold ... A new 2014 means I will only want the 2016 when it comes out. Number one rule ... You can never catch up to technology.

and i I am an owner who gets a hot right food and smells like gas fumes when I get home.

I would sure love to see some more pics of that beauty!! :2thumbs:  :firstplace:

Hi, Bob. My Spyder is a work in progress for so many years and has had many looks. You may have seen its early stages back in 2009 when it was still a total millennium yellow with a big front cowl. The Spyder gets a different look each year. I am also posting what we have done the summer of 2013. The photo of me posing next to my Spyder was back in September 2013. This is not how she looks now. By the end of April, I will get the her back from the shop. It had more additional custom body work, paint, custom lights and additional audio/video system set-up. I love every work we did on the Spyder and is quite unique. :)

I love my 2012 RTs I got to ride it twice today. Once to run errands and tonight I picked up my Son and we went to a Viewing for a friend who Passed away. We rode double. The adjustable rear suspension is great with two big men, cranked up all the way. It rode great. I looked at a 2014 today when I picked up an oil change kit. It's nice but I still get a thrill from my 2012. Plus it's paid for.
