• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I feel like my 2012 RT is now obsolete

Besides; how do you think that we're gonna feel, when you guys are all trading up for the NEXT set of improvements?

I have a 2012 RT I bought May of last year.

Does it have the bells and whistles of the 2013 or 2014? Nope.

Still a fun ride though.

I also have a 2012 RTS-SE5 with no Bells and Whistles. I am also having fun with my mine. I bought my :spyder2: 2 years ago. Deanna777:ohyea:

With all of the posts and pictures of everyone's 2014 with all of the fabulous changes, I feel like I might as well just leave my 2012 in the garage. Seriously, I wish I had the money right now to buy a 2014. I also don't put enough miles on the current RT to justify changing it. I suppose when and if the weather in Pa gets better I will feel better about the machine.

I have not been on here much recently, but wondered what the real world differences in terms of MPG, Range, heat issues and so forth are between the 2012 and 2014s?

By the way, I am sure this topic has been addressed many times, but with my lack of participation on the board I missed them.

I have a 2012.I have ridden the. 2014.I certainly did not see or feel this huge difference to warrant a margin of something in the region of $10,000.I am really happy riding my trouble free 2012.Ah the art of marketing!!!!!!!!

Nothing that still does what it was designed to do is obsolete . . . and my :f_spider: still puts a smile on my face! nojoke

Currently rydeing a 2010 with 35,000 miles and a 2011 with 11,000 miles on them. Almost bought a 2013 RTS--but changed my mind at the last minute. Could not justify trading the 2010 just to change the color to yellow. Then, the issues started happening with a lot of them.

2014 does offer justifiable changes for those who wish to do so. So far, no major issues have cropped up. No way would I trade the 2011--can't justify that. Paid for, and running just fine, many more miles in it. I usually trade every couple years, so am overdue on the 2010. :dontknow::dontknow::dontknow::popcorn::popcorn::popcorn:

It is!

Obsolete? Of course it is! :duh:
It is nothing more than a computer on wheels, right? :duh:
And we all know what happens to computers in only a few weeks, right? :duh::gaah::yikes:

Just kidding, naturally! :) :) :) Your machine will be good for many miles and years!

2012 is far from obsolete!

I bought a used 2012 lava bronze rt limited last and LOVE it! Especially with all the farkles I've out on it! The newest model always seems to bring new things to the table - that's progress but also a good bit of marketing. And besides - based on my trouble free ownership, riding experience, and what I read on here the 2012's are the most stable trouble free models to date - I'm sure the 14's are great, but time will tell if they're as good or better that a 12. It's no different than when the latest car models come out!

so, hold yr head hi, fellow 12 owner! We have nothing to be ashamed of!:2thumbs::clap::ohyea::ohyea::ohyea:

Heat is no longer an issue.
Range is around 220 miles
MPG most reports are in the 34 range

That being said, as fine a machine as the 2014 is turning out to be by most reports the 2012 RT is still a fine machine IMHO.
When the skies clear I`m sure your smile will reappear! :D
I went on a 200 mile ryde over the weekend & averaged 34.1 on my 2012 Rt-s so I'm happy

I have a 2011 RT. I test rode the 2014 for about 100 miles. It was great...but not enough for me to replace my 2011. I'm perfectly happy with it.

Doors?

bring your old rt to cincinnati, so i can blow the doors off of it with my antique g s .:roflblack: p.s. forget about the Jones's.
Mine didn't come with doors. Nice muffler by the way. Does the extra noise make it go faster?

The 12s have proven bulletproof. The 13s NOT - jury is still out on the 14s. So just grin at the newer bikes, knowing yours will get you home - theirs? Perhaps... ;)

Last Monday I traded my 08 RS sm5 for a 2012 RTS sm5. There we zero miles on it. Been on it 3 times since I trailered it home and to tell you the truth I love it. I'm not in pain as much and I can ride longer. I thought about the 2014 but I feel the deal that I got was worth the left over 2012. All being said I should have done it sooner. This will probably be my last new bike. I'm going to wear this one out.:2thumbs::2thumbs::clap::2thumbs::2thumbs:

With today's rate of technology change, it doesn't matter what you buy, in a couple of years it will be obsolete. Unless a new Spyder is going to give you 100 MPG, gas mileage isn't going to pay for a new 2014. Having a fuel tank that will take you 200 miles doesn't matter when you ride with people who have to fill up every 120 miles and when your butt tells you to get off after the same distance. Unless you are into drag racing, the additional power of the 1330 is not really important.

As was noted earlier, "Love The One You're With."
