• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Got my rtl in April 2014,found out about sl at spyderquest 2015. I have been lurking and learning since then. I wish I had found this sight before my dealer talked me into a new kenda rear tire after 3600 miles .:(
WTF?? i would not be going back to them. If your tire needed replacement at 3600 it was defective.

But back to the subject, :congrats: enjoy your :spyder2:
You will find its great for going just about everywhere.

Welcome, and enjoy !!

I find it funny that the dealer warned you to stay off the forums. Cruzr Joe
I wonder what the dealer is afraid of??????????????

Thanks for the warm welcome. I think the dealer was just trying to tell me to 'be careful' as there is alot of crazy stuff out there and they didn't want me getting into trouble and voiding warranty, etc.

They did push the maintenance contract hard for 2k and he specifically said that certain maintenance items will trigger 'alerts' on the Spyder and the only way to reset them is via computer that only dealers have. He said they would not reset an alert for something they did not do. So for example oil change alert came on and even if I did and proved I did my own oil changes even better than the stated interval, they would not reset it - they would only reset it if they did the work themselves. Even indicated this was 'watched' by BRP. I could not imagine the bike throwing alerts you could not reset or otherwise have reset if work was done by someone competent besides the dealer. This of course was encouragement to do the maintenance agreement. And even if I don't hit the mileage intervals, do the maintenance anyway since you paid for it.

Another thing that came up was oil. Service guy said intervals are something like 3k then 9k but he would not wait until 3k to change the break in oil, more like 1k. I said I always like to switch to synthetic where possible. He said do 1k with regular dino oil, or maybe a blend and then go full syn at around 3k. Then the finance guy who showed me the actual contract thought all can am vehicles came factory fill with full synthetic (and if so them maintenance would cover full syn change).

I did read some threads re: maintenance but didn't see much re: dealers resetting alerts. Also have not looked into the oil thing too much yet but I am curious how these come from factory - dino, blend or full syn?
