• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I didn't think a spyder was this fast....

Oh and if the link fails...
"BRP Can am spyder on the road @ Mexico" in YouTube. Yes I looked for a KPH on speedo... Something is fishy

Mexican speed limits are in KMH so it's pretty obvious he was going 180 KMH which was around 112 MPH. :gaah:

I'm guarenteeing that its not MPH as I have only been 123 twice on mine, and I wass maxed out, riding the governor going downhill, with a back wind.

180 for two people on an RS.... no way Jose.......Max I ever got was 128mph solo.
This has got to be KMH...
and that was a short short distance.

I thought it was a bit fishy... I can't even imagine 130... Lol. With the governor off and all the mods people have done, I wonder if they broke 150. I don't even think those tires are rated for something like that... But still curious

It looked to me like kph, not mph.

:agree: 181 kph = 112.4734 mph. I drove a race car at 165 mph and that was not 181 mph. BUT even at 112 mph in a short sleeve shirt and someone on the back is nuts. I computed the top speed of my 2011 RS-S Spider is 125 to 129 mph at the rpm redline. It was a good video.

All I know is that my wife was asleep when I started the video. The wind noise woke her up big time. This is why I have external mic's for my Spyder cams so that I can tuck them into a wind free zone. So much more enjoyable when trying to make a point.

Hit 128 according to the Spyder--- but GPS rates it about 123. Was not running at redline. There is no 'governor' on the Spyder. There is a rpm limiter. Main thing limiting Spyder top speed is wind resistance.

HAS to be kph. It is very easy to set between the mph & kph, a feature I love because i cross the border into the USA quite often!
Now on the same topic:

How much faster, or quicker is the RS than the RT (if at all)? I know the HP is more on the RS. Lower weight as well, so I am guessing it would be faster. Trading in my RS for an RT and am just curious

At say 112 mph, what rpm would it be at? I wouldn't know, but at about frame 120 he was pulling 8000+ rpms.

MPH or KPH; it's still looks pretty danged neat...
I switched my RT over to KPH once just to see what "140" would look like...

180 MPH verses KPH

If that was MPH the yellow lines would be one so this makes me think it was KPH. I have been up to 100 MPH and the white lines were as one. Besides if one was planning on going that fast it would have to be on a four lane road not two lanes. This is a diaster waiting to happened.

A lighter vehicle is certainly going to be quicker...as the higher horsepower vehicle will often be, if the gear ratios and tire sizes are the same. The weight makes little difference at the top end, other than allowing the lighter vehicle to reach top speed more quickly. The wind resistance is the big difference. The effects of aerodynamic drag quadruple as speed doubles, so it is the larger frontal area of the RT that slows it down, not the pounds.

Speed demon

I had my RS up to 100 a couple times only because I wanted to know if it would do it. The RT on the other hand, I have had up to 95 and felt like that was MORE than enough. If need in an emergency could go higher I suppose BUT don't think it is neccessary to waste the gas. Besides what fool would take the chances this person took. Crazy!!!NO RIDING GEAR:yikes: .SHORT SLEEVES!!! :cus:SHEEEEEEESE!!!
