• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I created a monster.

Made the mistake of letting my wife drive the Spyder yesterday. Why didn't any of you warn me?? :roflblack:

I told her I had a surprise for her. Took her to a big bowling alley parking lot with lots of room and ran her through the controls and sent her tooling around in 1st gear. Like a good girl she came back every time she had a question. She didn't ride the clutch or brake at all and by her 3rd lap you could tell she was still a little unsure, but getting the hang of it.

It was the highlight of her day, and this morning asked when she was going to get to drive the Spyder again.:gaah:

...and no, I do not have room in the garage or budget for a 2nd Spyder.

I did the exact same parking lot thing and ended up finding a good deal on a used SE5 for my wife. The only thing I regret is not having a SE5 of my own. I really like the SE5 and wish I would have waiting instead of getting a Premier Editions SM5!

Same Senerio in WA

We went for a 150 mi jaunt Saturday. She drove the first half, I the second.

(My male ego is developing a fat callous on it!:D)

You know what is coming next right - she'll want her own:D

I've wondered about this myself and maybe that's why Dudley doesn't let me drive very often. That's ok, it's fun but I like the no responsiblility of sitting in the back checking out the sights. No room in garage either.....Good luck.

I did the same now I have 2 spyders

Four bikes one spyder. I got the spyder for my wife who already has a MC license, but was never fully at ease with the two wheels. She has put about 300 miles on it and loves it, and in the family tradition we modded it. Hindle exhaust, Evoluzione cold air race intake and fan controller,JB box, plus some nice lighting from custom dynamics and spider decals to replace the BRP ones. It has been great because I ride on back to teach couldn't be easier:2thumbs:

No, you did NOT create a monster. What you created is a wonderful riding partner...to share great times with. Be thankful for a great blessing. :congrats:

:agree:
Now you need to make it a partnership. Most important, have her fully engaged in the accessories decisions & purchases. You have to mount them, but she's now a full partner & the two of you are going to enjoy it together far more than either of you could alone.

You are blessed!

I agree with everything said about creating a riding partner, except Mark's statement about you mounting the mod's. Let her mount them and you can talk her through it and help (just a little) she needs to get her hands a little dirty and learn she can do it. It will also give her more pride in her ride.:D

She drives now!

My wife thought she wanted a scooter, so she signed up for the MSF course to learn how to ride. After the first day she came home and said she didn't want a scooter anymore, she could just drive the spyder! At the end of day two I had to go down to the course so she could show off to the other attendees as she drove the spyder home...it was just beginning!

My wife did the same, except we bought a new Honda Silverwing before she decided to get the Spyder. I now have a one year old Silverwing with only 249 miles on it & almost $9,000 in it...

Any buyers out there? :dontknow:

You are right! I stand corrected. I've actually thought about that very thing myself while out in the garage...

Had a 2 wheel and I could not get comfortable on it either. In the 5 years I owned the Suzuki SV650, I maybe put 300 miles on it. Can Am was doing a test ride at the dealership where my husband was picking up his new GW that weekend. Coincidence? I think not. Anyway, I wanted to go on the test ride, but kept talking myself out of it, saying we couldn't afford it and had no room in the garage. Hubby insisted I go, as did my parents. I could not get the smile off of my face for the rest of the day. Hubby knew he was in trouble even before we left the parking lot to go for the actual ride. We got home later that night and I told him, I would sell my bike and my scooter, so that clears a place in the garage, and gives us some money for a down payment on the spyder. I now have over 2100 mi on the spyder and I have only had it since March. while deciding on what to do for our vacation I suggested taking the bikes. Never would I have suggested that on my Suzuki. Hubby complains that since I got the spyder, I have only been on the back of his New GW, which he purchased for OUR comfort, twice. Whenever a bike ride is suggested, I pull out the spyder. Oops! I guess I need to compromise and let him drive sometimes. It just goes to show how much more comfortable I can be on the spyder than any other bike.
