There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. I cannot believe that BRP is allowing

its spyder (GS/RS) to be shown/used on the tv series "Eastbound and Down". I'm actually saying that with tongue-in-cheek b/c I don't believe they (BRP) could stop it.

In short, this series is about a major league pitcher who has seen his better days who hits the skids and ends up (in season 3) in the minors. The main character (who rides the spyder) is a no holds barred racist with absolutely no manners or morals whatsoever. This is why I'm wondering if BRP has tried to stop the use of the spyder in this series.

Has anyone else watched this series? It's on HBO. I think I may be the only one on here, except maybe for Randy (arntufun), that watches this show. It's on its third season; so, somebody is watching.

Funny show..just kind of a modern day 'Archie Bunker' act he is doing. It's not like the spyder is a big part of the show-- and there is nothing BRP could do regardless..... They don't have to 'allow' anything

Don't like it--- don't watch it.

I still like House...and he should have never bought that crotch rocket... He would have been better served on a Spyder 😊

In the Wedding Singer (with Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore), the jerk that is dating Drew's character drives a DeLorean. Does that kill my love for that vehicle?? Nope!!

Publicity for BRP!! As long as he's not insulting the :spyder2:, who cares?!?!

I think they have to get permission from the car companies, motorcycle companies, etc to use their products in tv shows and movies. I could be wrong though.... :dontknow:

Gee...
I had always heard that the manufacturers had to PAY in order to get their products seen on T.V. and in the movies...
Does anybody have a definitive answer??? :dontknow:

I used to work for the company that makes Little Debbies, while a company can sue to stop the use of their product in a show, if the product is such that it seems to be "creating a real life environment" for the characters, then it is something they are going to get away with.

In this case, being a watcher of the first 2 seasons of Eastbound and Down, I would state that the show has a good base of reference for that character to be on something obscure.

The days of Pepsi buying into a show like Max Headroom or whatever are fairly far and gone. Most things now happen in the creating an environment catagory. The only times this is not the case is with HUGE arse companies that can bury someone (Coke, Bud, etc)

Oddly enough, there are less and less of those huge companies anymore.

They don't have to pay per-say, But if a company wants to have their product prominently displayed, they'll make an offer the producer can't refuse, Case in point ''ET'', They were going to use M and M's Then some marketing guy went to the producer of the film , And said if you use our product ''Reese's Pieces'' instead we'll give you a few million$ and the rest is history. No money offered they might have just went with carrot sticks. :roflblack:

IMO: some companies pay to have their products shown. Remember FBI: Sponsored by Ford--every vehicle shown in the series was a Ford.

Remember when Spyder first came out: CSI had a "pitch" piece for the Spyder. A mysterious set of tire tracks showed up at a crime scene. The "all knowing" guy with the sunglasses almost gave a 20-30 second commercial. 'That's the new Can Am Spyder---etc. etc. etc. Spyder got a 5 second or so display.

I do not think that they can force any show not to show a particular vehicle--unless they were making some type of bad statement about the vehicle.
