• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I asked a question a few days ago...

I received responses to change the vacuum hoses (on my 2008 GS SM5) b/c I complained about an intermittent fast idle, that has been going on for years, which was a nuisance, and turned into me almost rear ending a car during a panic stop. I then asked, if it is a vacuum hose that is the problem, why the spyder does not fast idle all the time? I still haven't received an answer to that specific question. Help, help.

How fast it idles depends on how much the MAP hoses leak at that time, on air temperature and engine temperature. If the hoses have not been changed on your 08 GS. Just do it.

Let's see....

Do remember way back when the windshield wipers on your car was operated by the manifold vaccum...?? if you do or someone around you does they can tell you that the speed of the wipers was dependent on the amount of vaccum present. If you stepped on the gas the wipers would virtually stop but if you let up on the gas the wipers went crazy fast. This is similar and depending on the condition of the hoses and the temps involved would make for the changes...my hoses had just started when I replaced them with the silicone type....
20150726_160909.jpg 20150726_160929.jpg if that is the case. Sometimes the hose would heat up and become loose at the connection and a zip can fix it ...and it's not a bad Idea to have the throttle body checked and cleaned.....

Just to be clear. It may not be the the MAP hoses that are leaking. But they are cheap and easy to replace. It could be the purge valve or purges hoses leaking. Harder to diagnose and a little more expensive to fix. It could also be the manifold to throttle body rubber boot. Very expensive to fix. A lot of labour.

It's at the dealer now. Thank you. I also said to make sure the vacuum hoses are replaced.

Don't know if this will work on a spyder..........

I haven't had the need to try this yet but it works well on other engines to isolate vacuum leaks. Use WD40 or break cleaner and direct short spurts in and around the suspected area of a vacuum leak. If the engine's idle speed changes you've likely found the leak.

Ask your dealer to do a TPS reset
I have seen this issue a few times before

DEALER !!!!

Unfortunately they are going to use the same BRP parts that FAIL ..... they probably won't use silicone unless you brought some in and told them to ....... Mike

I think I'll give it a year, and then replace them myself with silicone. I just got a little lazy. But, I think my spyder's issue may go deeper to things I wouldn't attempt to fix.

IDLE ISSUE

Hopefully the new tubes will fix the issue ..... Mike

In the beginning, the purge valve and canister removal was the fix. It worked on our bikes. The purge valve some times didn't seal. That could mean the problem would not be consistent.
