• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

considering making a move from the 2008 GS to the RT. I know that most RT owners love their decision, and I know many GS/RS owners will never make the move. But how many RT owners have regretted their decision? I will be retiring in 169 days (but who's counting) so theoretically, this will be my final big purchase (I'll let the wife make the future ones). Also, please state if you are a previous Spyder owner.

PS: I LOVE my GS with a passion. 18,000 problem free miles other than a few computer hiccups. Nothing mechanical....I think.

she`s not perfect - but the better decision - and my good old 08-GS found a new lover (we had wonderfull 20.000 kms together..)

I'm very happy with my trade - both bikes have strengths, I just prefer the comfort of the RT & would never go back….

I bought the GS SM5 in May of this year and absolutely love it. The after market folks love me at this point considering I've spent around $3500 for upgrades/additions, but the bottom line is I love the machine and can drive it all day long without fatigue. I did the same with the Harleys I've owned...all Sportsters and I did the same with every one of them...all 9 of them. I was chastised by friends for not moving up to the cruisers but I wasn't content with them...I wanted the rapid response and accleration but it was a personal decision. I see the same attitudes developing with the Spyder folks now...but the bottom line is we're all riding them, regardless of which version we prefer and that makes us unique in our own right. Everybody has thier own preferences when it comes to what they want to ride and how they want to customize them. The machine is awesome, regardless of which version you prefer and the people you meet on Spyders are terrific. But anyway...I say the red/black version is the best, the fastest, the coolest...but who knows...the RT may inspire me at some point :)

If I was forty years younger, I would kept the 08 GS/Rs or whatever they want to call it now. My last two wheel was a Honda ST1100 add a "few" trips to the Dragon was fun on both. The ST had a fair amount of packing space, the 08 not a lot. My days of traveling with a exttra tee shirt, shorts and socks are long gone. So it was "bungee bag" on the seat to travel on the 08. The only thing I did not like about the 08 was the foot position and that has been beat to death on here. My thighs hurt after a couple hours of riding. I added "travel pegs", but they did not help a lot.
I debated a couple months on the RT. I am glad I did get it. Packing space is wonderful. Ride is great. Rode from Gatlinburg to SW Ohio in one trip (including a hour and a half in traffic try to get into Ohio at the bridge. Still felt good. Foot position is very good and I did add "travel pegs", but seldom really use them. Normal handling is very good. I "trotted" the Dragon at SITS. The few curves I tried at kind of speed seemed to go well, but not as good as the 08. Old age and (finnally) a tad bit of common sense slowed me down as well.
In the end, I would say, get as much of a demo on the Rt as you can to see if if fits your needs/wants. I have the base model RT, but I suggest you really research RT models before deciding which (if any) model you want. Example is the radio. I did not want the audio package, so I bought the base model, but then the dealer said, they had to install the audio before installing the CB, I wanted. Many other cost more to add on, then to start with.

Ride safe, have fun, enjoy retirement in ?? days.

I got mine! A silver RT with audio.
I guess that means you'll (and Joy) will be able to sleep at night now? Dudley would lie in bed just "thinking" for so long, then be exhausted and worn out and anxious from too much "thinking". Did you get it yet? Now you have to go and take a ride....:thumbup::shocked:

I cannot sleep thinking or not! Especially these last two nights

Us old-timers cannot sleep, pee, bend over, see, hear, contain our flatulence, and one other thing that cannot be mentioned here.

Forrest must be a mess, huh?:roflblack:
