• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

this is something i would never do, but i can see it happening to someone. i was talking to a friend that is on a couple of Yamaha forums. he is a excellent motorcycle mechanic and lots of people want him to work on their bikes. he was telling me that i should never give advice on fixing a bike on line. when i asked why he said that if a person does what you say and something happens to the persons bike, that you might be sued. has anyone ever heard of this, and would you do something that someone tells you and your bike has a problem. i get a lot of information on here but i would never try to fix a motor or something like that.

what do you think, would a person have a good case if you advise them and something does go wrong. in this i sue you and you sue me world, should a person giving advice to someone else put a disclaimer in their advice and hope nothing comes out of it.

I could see it happening. Don't know if they would win, but the legal bills would still hurt...

That's why I don't give advise and don't ask for advise on any of the forums I belong to, I
just read what others have done and if I want to do it then it's my choice and all on me.

Time to shut down SL.............................NOT.

IMO: That is what forums are for. The advice is out there. Do what you want with it.

I know this guy that does not recommend valve check service. He usually says something like its your money and your choice, do what you want.

He has followers and he has seen others that went out and had the service performed about 10 minutes after reading the suggestions.

There's a lot of folks out there that need to stop self-medicating...

You can get sued for just about anything that you say or do; do the best that you can, and it'll all be okay! :2thumbs:

If a person reads a thread on something that was done on a bike or any other vehicle and decides to try it and it does not work, that is on them. The form is a sounding board on how people have resolved problems and to share ideas and sometimes to get things off their chest. IMHO I cannot see how anyone can be held liable.

As I see it..!!

the age old saying applies here..." If Johnny jumps off a cliff does that mean you have to jump off too..?? "...it is known that all that happens here are suggestions and what we did in a similar situation don't remember anyone saying you have to do what they post....

WELLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

:lecturef_smilie:...The person doing the suing would first have to prove it was YOU who ...gave the advice , actually posted the advice , are even real etc......I'm not worried ..............:spyder:
