• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Hydraulic fluid??

My 2010 RTS was stuck in 1st. Thanks, to advice for you guys, my son in law came over and we rocked the bike back and forth until we got it into N. But, then when I started it and put it into 1st, it lurched forward and shut off, and then once again was locked. Again we rocked it back and forth, got it into N and same thing happened. I called Performance East in Goldsboro, NC, they told me to have it towed over, and could be as much as 2wks before they could look at it. {Same old story} Anyway, got a tow truck, got it towed over there, and when the tow truck driver called me, he said that it started up went into gear, and the guy that took it off the truck told him, that he felt like it might just need hydraulic fluid. I thought that the trans fluid and the brake fluid worked together, guess I am wrong. I just had regular service done. Xplain to me if you can!!:opps:

Kinda sounds like your clutch isn't disengaging the transmission. I'm by no means an expert, but it sounds like you're sticking in gear, maybe because of some lousy clutch fluid or function of the clutch. It would be well worth it to totally flush the fluid and maybe replace any o-rings that are due. A good oil change might help too. I know you said in the other post that service was just done.....what service and did they do everything right..is the question.
I'm guessing by "hydraulic fluid" he meant clutch fluid. (which is actually DOT4 brake fluid....just to muddy the water even more..LOL)

Is yours a SM5 or a SE5????

SM5 does have clutch fluid. SE5 does not.

If it's a manual the clutch has a fluid reservoir on the handle bar that takes brake fluid. If it's a semi-auto it is done by engine oil.

Seems like. ..

clutch engagement problem. Oil in the engine is usually the culprit on the semi aoutomatic while the manual clutch can be hydraulic fluid as well. If your manual clutch feels different like really soft then it is not disengaging the clutch. In the both cases when you put it in gear it will lurch and kill the engine. without more information don't know if it is more than fluid in the manual or stuck plates in either...:dontknow:

The clutch fluid in the manual shift (SM5) needs to be flushed at 2,000 miles. This clutch also has a vacuum assist. If the vacuum line from the manifold is leaking, shifting problems occur. Leaking clutch diaphragm, same thing. Worn/loose clutch linkage will cause your problem.
