• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Hugely disappointed in BRP - Spyder five now Spyder three.

Thanks to all for such kind words. Although I sure wish they'd kept Mickey and me around (who wouldn't?!nojoke), I knew the ride would come to an end. BRP has been nothing but good to me from the very first call when they generously offered to fly my daughter out to LA for the photo shoot (they found out it was her birthday and said "Well, bring her along!")

Lamont was like a mother hen the first day Mickey and I got to ride with him and I think he was just grateful we didn't run off the road, getting it all captured by the camera crew. (Truth is, I almost rear-ended Fred that day on the PCH. I had about 30 minutes total riding time at that point and couldn't find the brake. Lamont saw the whole thing, but Fred was oblivious, thank heavens.)

So I have tons of stories, world-wide friendships, and a 2011 Spyder RS-S in my garage. Who could ask for more?!

I agree !!!

That aside....... I would like to see BRP give a postion to a younger person (20's-30's) with a tricked out Spyder to help draw a younger crowd to the Spyder world. A Spyder is not just a old mans bike, it can be cool, hip, phat and snizzle gizzle as well......[/QUOTE]

I've been blessed to have met both Mickey & Faran & call them friends (& sister). I sure hope to continue to see them from time to time. Fortunately, Faran lives near SpyderFest, so I'm thinking she'll continue to be a regular. I know Mickey has many irons in the fire, not to mention living in California, but I sure hope he can make it too.

God has blessed me through both of you & I am a richer man by it.

Love y'all!

Lamont, thanks for the kind words. I know I said it before in the email I sent, but I can't thank you enough for your guidance, friendship and encouragement. All three of the vets played a big part of giving us a solid enough foundation to take off on the freeway 30 minutes in and feel comfortable. And, my videomaking skills are no match for the experience and knowledge you and Fred bring to the table. Like I've said on the FB page many times, you guys have forgotten more about motorcycles and riding than I'll ever know. (And, that's not an old age joke, lol) I'm glad they're keeping it going with you guys, because you have helped build the community and still do so much. I'm just glad I got to ride along side for a bit. And, you can bet I'll still be around and showing up to events.

Mark, I appreciate that so much. That feeling is mutual, what a blessing your friendship has been. I'll see ya on the road!

Corporate decisions seldom make any sense

Faran & Mickey you both have so much to be proud of. You were given the opportunity to do a job and you not only did the job. You exceeded any reasonable persons expectations. That's what winners do, and both of you are WINNERS!

You know, everyone is all up in arms they cut the only woman from the program. Nothing against Faran, she has been a great ambassador, and people are right to be upset at her (and Mickey's) dismissal. But the attitude of "Oh noes! there are no women on the spyder five!" has got to go. There isn't even a Spyder 5 right now. There are only 3 of them. Maybe they are moving to a spyder 3 setup (which makes sense ya know, what with us only have 3 wheels). But if they are keeping the spyder 5 setup, then that means there is nothing stopping them from accepting not one, but as many as TWO female riders. Lets not burn the witches at BRP before we are sure they weigh the same as a duck.

I couldn't even find where this was announced. So I'm just going on the info I've found here.

As a fairly new Spyder owner I haven't really had a chance to follow the stories of the Ambassadors but in reading all these posts, it seems to me that the consensus is that these two wonderful people are very much liked and admired. I also feel that it truly is a shame that they cut the one lady in the group. Bad choice to be sure as the ladies who are a BIG part of the Spyder community should always have a representative. Fact is they should have more than one and not have them eliminated all together.

With that being said, it occurred to me that in light of this, why not start a petition drive and have it sent to BRP so they can see first hand how wrong their decision was. I'm willing to bet that a major percentage of people would sign it. Look, the ladies are truly a driving force with this and a host of other things that go on in our lives. Major purchases of these Bikes and other things just don't happen without their blessings to us MARRIED GUYS at least not without a Hugh problem on your hands at home.

I really don't know how to start something like this but my wife (actual Spyder Owner) and I will be happy to sign onto it. Zorro will sign on too....lol.

THOUGHT'S?

The GOS group Girls On Spyders launched a major response to BRP today. We expressed our basic outrage on Can Ams FB....the responses we did receive were rather limp and did not answer any questions. This is new management. Like Teflon in their responses. We encourage all of you to post to Can Am if you feel their decision to be flawed. We had one female voice....one, and now that is gone. Please help us show what a mistake was made!

Mickey and Faran, I just want to say, THANKS !!!! I have really enjoyed reading post from both of you, and want to wish you both the best. I hope to see both of you again at Spyderfest.

Thank you! So glad we caught each other while we were out and about that day. Take care!

WOW!!! We went out for the afternoon and evening and come home and find this...Mickey and Faran...thank you for all you have done this past couple of years....the two of you were perfect for the job....thank you for becoming my friend....

It is very obvious, based on the discussions above, that BRP did not make a good move with what they have done over the ambassador changes.

I know BRP follows this site and hope they take public opinion into consideration. What the outcome will be--remains to be seen.

Perhaps they will make us aware of what the future plans are for the program.

I was looking forward to meeting Faran at Bike Week in Daytona this week. Thank you both for all your work and efforts promoting such a great product. You certainly will be missed. I wish both of you the best in any of your new endeavors.

It appears that the new direction may be addressed in spydertalk with a new promotion that I received.

Chris

Maybe its just me, but I really don't see what the huge deal is here. They were chosen for a year, given a spyder and cash to promote a vehicle. They did that and now the program is over. Now they can choose to be unofficial ambassadors, unpaid, like the rest of the owners are, or they can choose to sell thier spyders and take the cash.
It was a good choice to have both female and male representatives to get the word out about the spyders, but it was never meant to be a lifetime position.

I haven't had the pleasure to meet Mickey, but we've met Faran and her husband at many MOGANG meetings, events, and of course, SpyderFest. Now that Len has his shop in Springfield, MO. I'm sure we'll see her more often. Excellent job to both of you!

It's only marketing...

I've had the great pleasure to share with most of the RT5 ambassadors. With Mickey and Faran I have a special place in my hearts, and with my wife even more. I had the pleasure to share with both of them and I am honored to call them my friends. Mickey was going back to Ohio after he picked up his first RS-S and made a stop in Memphis. We got to share some good stories while he saw a little of downtown and then I had to make him spend the night at our place because a storm was coming in that night and he thought he could outrun it. I saw Mickey like a version of myself if I had the visions and inspirations that he has. And with his talents, I knew that BRP picked up a good representative. With Faran, she grew on us! She became Leira's (as well as many of the girls here) big sister! Once they kicked off the "Girls on Spyders" Facebook group, they ended up talking to each other every day. Like Lamont said, I can't figure out how she finds time to do all the great things she does, but that is something that I truly admire! BRP is loosing good representation.

Having said all that... BRP will read and listen to all of our letters, emails, phone calls, etc regarding Faran and Mickey's departure. And they will give you a answer (call it whatever you want it, it's your opinion, but it is still an answer from BRP). But marketing goes with an ever-changing world we live in. They seemed it was time to change and they will do that. And sooner or later, we will embrace the change. Why? Are we going to stop endorsing our Spyders because of this?!?! I don't think so!!! Are we telling prospective new owners to not buy a Spyder because BRP decided to eliminate 2 ambassadors?!? Probably not!! Most of the potential buyers don't even know who the RT5 Ambassadors are! We were in the same place... we didn't know Lamont or Fred (unless you were riding for a good while and know them from previous rides) until we got our Spyders. And Mickey & Faran were the new kids on the block after we got the brand new RT's! Sure, it hurts to see them go... but that is the way the marketing world goes (I agree with Lamont on his statement that they should have closed the whole program and let them ALL go, but BRP knew that they needed veteran and famous riders in their books). Bottom line... we are going to keep riding our Spyders and doing what we need to do to keep them on the road. And as it has been said before many times: WE ARE ALL AMBASSADORS!!!!

Lets just be happy that we got to meet Mickey and Faran the way we did, and wish that whatever plan BRP comes up with, it will be towards our advantage of a better performing, more reliable and friendlier company and products! Not to mention that their marketing strategy pays off to keep them afloat...

Where did they go?

Members of the Girls on Spyder Facebook group have emailed some Spyder corporate contacts asking them to reconsider keeping Spyder 5 program as a popular one with the Spyder community. Many are particularly interested in having a female representative. We have also started a dialogue on the CanAm Facebook page and have some responses summarizing their thinking. It's in the upper/right area of the page and has several posts and replies if you would like to see the points that have been made. You can also post your own opinion.

We are respectfully asking them to extend a successful program that has been meeting the communication/ambassador needs for some of the Spyder riders. To the riders, it is important. Our dialogue will continue. As far as I know, no one has received an email response from BRP, but this only started yesterday and responses may follow.

Make a statement to BRP if this is an important issue to you.

Very well-put! :2thumbs:

I understand it was not a life time position for anyone but to remove a female from their ambassadorship with the amount of women out there that have bought their own :spyder2: because of a woman being up there and taking the lead for this company is just wrong. I got my RTS because of what I seen on women's pages that had them AND because of Faran's comments on this type of trike. It is a lot of money the women put on Spyders just G.O.S. have put out more then $9,000,000.00 on their bikes and that is not even touching what we have spent on aftermarket items from BRP/Can-Am! If it wasn't for reading posts from a point of view of a woman I would have bought a Harley Trike instead of my RTS believe me if my husband had his way that would have been what I had. I am a 3rd generation motorcycle owner and the first and only one to have a Spyder I have 15 sisters, in my family, who also want one because of what I have shared with them on facebook that Faran has posted about them. If they went out and got a bran new RT with everything mine has on it they would pay over $500,000.00 that is just my family and that is not even counting their grown daughters that all so tell me they want one!

Faran and Mickey,
I don't have much to add about this thread other than misbelief. I'm saddened that you will no longer be ambassadors for BRP. Even though I've not always been vocal here on SL, I've followed many of your posts and video's and enjoyed them very much. That being said, Good luck to both of you. I know you will still be well represented in the spyder community, especially here on SL. If your ever up in the Northern part of Vermont look me up. I'd be up to take you on a tour of ths area.
