• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

how to turn off the kill switch?

Thank You mother for telling me I should not be riding such a dangerous vehicle. I promise I am not walkig or runing with any sharp objects in my hand. If thats how you feel a spyder is a dangerous vehicle maybe you should think about selling yours.

I asked a straight forward question how to disconnect something I did not want. When I want life living questions I will call you.

Dude, Chill. On this site, if you post something about disabling a safety device, you are going to have the majority of people asking why and recommending you not to do it. What were you expecting? Devious did have a slightly sarcastic sentence in his comment, but I doubt it required a double barrell response. Also noticed that PMK wrote how he thought you could accomplish your goal, but you did not thank him for the post. Your only two follow up posts were rather negative in tone with no likes or thanks for information that people took time out of their day to try to help. Not cool.

:hun:Why would you want to:dontknow::dontknow::lecturef_smilie: It is ez to not use it, but is there as a safety feature for all motorcycles :p Fyi a copy paste from info I found:

Most motorcycle training courses suggest that you get in the habit of using the motorcycle KILL switch to shut off your bike. The reasoning is that if you don't use it, it won't work when you need to use it.
Much confusion occurs in traffic when you inadvertently trip the KILL switch and then can't figure out why the bike won't restart. Always look at the KILL switch first.

I don't normally use the kill switch but one day..... sitting at the gas station on base I did..... and sat there for 5 minutes trying to start the bike and looking really stupid till I figured out what I did.

I inadvertantly hit the kill switch at a gas station on my first ever long distance ride. Took 25 minutes for me to figure out what the problem was. And the whole time I was wondering what kind of mistake I made getting a Spyder. Lesson learned.

If you don't want public opinion, don't ask a public forum. If you don't wan t kill switch, don't buy a vehicle that has one, or just go ahead and disable the thing. A vehicle is only as dangerous as you make it.

Thanks for recognizing my efforts. I hope that it helped the OP.

As for the others, before calling out the OP on a safety device, consider your own mods, and honestly, if you run a car tire, you are equally to blame when the true facts are considered.

Sadly, like most good websites, over time they kind of wear out. This place is a great wealth of info, however, the diminishing quality of posts and honestly so many off-topic subjects is bringing it to a crawl.

Again, my opinion, if the OP wants no right grip kill switch then do it. My only real concern I already mentioned, if the engine requires a shut down while moving, turning off the key will disable the power steering and ABS. Probably not an issue, simply pointing it out.

I think if you descend into the catacombs of Spyderlovers you can find threads asking how to disable the VSS, the mode before you ryde thing, the DPS and even how to turn the headlights off during the day.

People want control of their machines.
Quite probably the OP got burned by the Kill switch in one form or another and decided it had to go.

My second Spyder ryde was to a family reunion that ended up with me sitting atop the machine trying to look as cool as possible while wondering why the start button didn't work. So I do understand.

Luckily a nine year old kid who noticed the Kill Switch looked the same as his dirt bike's pointed out the error of my ways.
Did I say Luckily? At the time I didn't think Luckily.

But, disabling any device is risky especially on such a complicated conveyance.

I always use my kill switch to shut off my Spyder - so it is the first thing I check when hitting the start switch does nothing. :dontknow:

I've also learned to keep my thumb away from it on very bumpy roads! :gaah:

Leave the "Kill switch" alone it is their for a reason.

Sometimes my spyder does not start, it is because I accidently hit the "Kill switch" when I cover my spyder.

I usually figure out why my spyder does not start so I check the "Kill Switch", and the spyder starts. Not very often this happens. Deanna

Yes, you are correct, I did have comment that was out of order, and I apologize for that. But it was triggered by the jerks reference to my trying to mother him. I don't care what he does, I'll even disengage his kill switch for him

I don't see the point in using the kill switch either. To shut down I just put the bike in 5th and drop the clutch. Then unhook the battery cable to kill the power.......

The OP has a lot of lessons to learn in life. First thing that comes to mind is, don't ask stupid questions if you don't want stupid

answers. Second thing is if the bike is dead when trying to start, check the kill switch. (motorcycle basics #101) Third and lastly

learn a little respect for others and their opinions or don't participate in a public forum. Please be a little more respectful in the future

and stop the personal attacks. i.e. be a diplomate.

Jack

:agree: If you just try and treat folks in the manner that you'd want them to treat your kid sister; things will usually go much smoother...

(Unless you never liked the little witch! :D)

Question: Have you ever had an unknown miscreant thumb the switch to "off": just to be cute? :gaah:

Before I started putting on a Spyder Sisters sun shade, I'd frequently come back to fingerprints, and switches in different positions - and once in awhile, some "miscreant" sitting on my Spyder as though it was OK to do so.

The sun shade tends to keep folks off it, and keeps me from having to take a deep breath and count to ten before saying anything to them that would, most assuredly result in a physical confrontation. :gaah:
