• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

How Stiff?

So what setting do you guys keep your shocks set to for every day riding? The dealer has mine set to 2 and it feels like there is to much play in the way it handles. What is the opinion of all you veteran :spyder:owners?

I ride Agressively when safe and carry a passenger frequently.......5 up front and 7 in back.My riding territory is mainly back roads with lots of sweeping curves....2 up front would be a real sloppy ride!

:agree: There is way too much play in the stock setting. Just took my first fairly long ride yesterday with the Wife-L-Unit and it was quite mushy on turns and I could notice the high beams bouncing off of overhead signs that were a bit in front of me.

Read up in the owners manual last night and it had chart with recommended settings depending on number of riders, weight, etc. Will make those adjustments tonight. Also will search these forums for an older thread regarding tire pressure.

I cranked my front shocks up to maximum stiffness soon after I got my Spyder and I haven't touched those since. I'm 6'3" and 240 lbs.

Changed both the front and rear to the next to the stiffest setting shortly after getting the Spyder. I ride aggressively when it is safe and two-up when I can. Will probably go to the stiffest setting both front and rear when I get my trailer. Ryde Safe and Enjoy:thumbup:

At 150 lbs, I may be one of the lighter riders, but I did an actual road test on the same road resetting the front shocks from 1 to 5 on successive runs and found 1 and 2 unusable with 3 passable. 5 was a bit stiff and 4 was just right. Back is at 4 and works for me. Front ones are more critcal for controlling the front end "roll" feeling.

Hey zzNeonzz,

That really all depends on how much you weigh, and whether you carry passengers or not.

For example, the rear shock I think a setting of 3 was for 150lbs, and 5 was for a 200lb person. Setting 6 and 7 were for riding with a passenger. I forget what the range for the front was.

I'm 250lbs, and I have my rear shock set to 6, and my front's maxed at 5. I like the ride way better than the default of 3 I had for my fronts and rear shocks.

Hope that helps.

I was on the other site and Ken has a new sway bar to offer.

Maybe this will help some with this issue.

I'm about 5'5" and 165 guess its time to adjust and ride again...But its way to hot to ride anymore today lol the temp on the spyder was reading 107 for my hour long ride...

Being as I weigh around 240, have Givi saddlebags installed and occasionally ride with a passenger, I have the rear shock set at 7. Even at that, when I take an adult passenger (minimum 140 lbs.) I notice my headlights shooting higher than I want. My next step would be to upgrade to an air shock like Lamonster has but I don't take passengers very often. Oh yeah, the fronts are at 4.
