• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

How much fuel is left in the tank when the light goes on?

I calculated around 2 gallons is left, so at 30mpg that should get you another 60 miles, anyone else finding anything different?

I figured slightly less, but that may just be my nervous nature. I have never run out. Most manufacturers shoot for 50+ miles worth, or so. Keep in mind that it is variable. You'll get more on the highway and less in the city, you can run out with gas left by going up or down a hill, or around a sharp curve. In my estimation, it also varies a bit between bikes. Be careful...the Spyder is no fun to push for any distance.

This has been discussed a few times before in the past. IMO, no matter what you calculate (guesstimate, and that's what you really do), when the engine stops you have lost. Why not just put gas sometime after you see 3 bars and a gas station and save yourself the problem of pushing your Spyder or calling a tow truck. The many years I have ridden, I have never run out of gas in over 350K miles, but I have never tried proving how much gas is left when the light comes on.

I've been able to do an easy 40 to 50 miles after the light comes on... and still had 1 bar showing. I was nervous though and like others have said, don't want to push my luck.

I have been able to ride for about 20 miles AFTER the last bar disapeared and I believe there was a little bit less than a gallon left in the tank.

I do not know if BRP did this intentionally, but I always thought that it was to act as a reserve.

Either way, I start looking for a gas station when there are two bars left. sometimes just one if I know the area.

I usually fill up when the light first appears - 4.6 gallons. Rode it until no bars the other day and then about another 10 miles - 5.4 gallons was all she would take.

I don't like going much after the light comes on though - safety sake. I HATE TO WALK!!!!
