• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

How many Spyders have been sold?

Just wondering if anyone has any idea how many Spyders have been sold since they were introduced? Number sold in each of '07, '08' & '09 would be interesting. I think we are still a rare breed, but wondering for how long.

HOW MANY SPYDERS HAVE BEEN SOLD?

Maybe you are passing around the same one in America ... but here in South Australia (one of Australia's States), there have been 11 Spyders sold. Not sure about the rest of the States and Territories in Australia :2thumbs:

No idea, but I've logged over 11K miles in just over a year on my Spyder and have only saw two others on the road that I didn't intentionally go to meet up with, so they are still very rare. I get almost as much attention as the first day I brought her home as I do now.

The BRP website on the map shows a total of 239 registered spyder owners. So my gues for California it would be around 250-275 taken into account for those that don't use the web, don't know about the forums or the BRP website

Here on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada we have a year round ryding season. As a result, we've sold 11 SM5's and 1 SE5. Plus, our manager, she's tiny and she's ryding an SM5.
Won't be long before someone is ryding our Phantom. I've been showing it all day.

About six months ago (Sept) when this question came up, the best guesses were that about 8,000 had been sold. If I recall, someone had heard that they were producing about 50- 60 a day running at less than full capacity due to supplier issues. In December BRP announced that they were cutting back production by 20%. With slower sales in the winter (at least in the states that have it), it would seem reasonable that there are over 12,000 by now.

Whatever the actual number is, it far exceeds the 1,500 BRP estimated they would sell worldwide in their first year. Thank you BRP for this marvelous toy!

Just bought the Phantom today. It looks SO stealth compared to the other colors and I'm a girl and my favorite color in general is red. Go figure!;)
