• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

How many Spyder Ryders are Retirees? How long and from What?

Retired in Sept. 1992 from local fire dept as a firefighter/paramedic. Retired again in Nov. 2005 as a paramedic trainer/ firefighter from another small fire dept. Retired the last time from teaching emergency medicine at a large teaching hospital. These three positions ran concurrently for the last few years of each. Retirement is great, but how did I have time to work?

Retired

Started a company in 1970 and sold it in 1994 ( " got an offer I couldn't refuse " ) moved to Florida and never looked back.:yes::yes:

I retired in July after 30 years of teaching Agriculture Education in a high school in Lancaster County, PA - the Garden Spot of the world!! My husband retired from Verizon as a Planning Engineer about 3 years ago. He rides a Kawasaki Voyager and I bought my 2011 Viper Red Spyder last May to see if I would like it and I haven't looked back!!! On our rides we have a friendly competition as to whose bike will get the most oogles.... my Spyder usually wins !!
:ohyea:

After nearly 10 years in USN as electronic technician and 14 years with USPS, I entered into retirement, if I can call it that. Just don't have to report to anyone other than wife.

I was a Chief Infirmation Officer at a large public utility. Prior to that I was Los Angeles Police Officer. I walked a plain clothes foot beat on skid row in downtown Los Angeles. After that I taught in the graduate business program at University of California Riverside. I retired 10 years ago at age 55.

I started working full time 1 week before my 14 birthday, (family of 10 children, 9 still living at home, parents separated eventually divorced), working as a dishwasher for 75 cents an hour I worked night shift (10 – 6) 7 days a week. I would usually work a double shift on weekends. I continued to work the same shift and hours though 4 years of high school. I eventually became a waiter ($1.25 an hour) and then a cook at $2.75 an hour. I week after I graduated from high school I enlisted in the US Army where I spent 3 years in Europe and then got out of the Army.

I then was a Deputy Sheriff full time and worked security part time. I did this for a year and then reenlisted in the US Army.

While in the Army I was stationed at Ft. Campbell, KY; Ft. McPherson, GA; Cameron Station, VA and finally NATO HQs in Brussels, Belgium for a total of 22 years in the US Army. While in the Army I drove a truck; traveled the 48 contiguous states for US Army Recruiting Command; Chauffeur and Bodyguard for Flag Rank officers and other VIPs and VVIPs; Operations NCO and then First Sergeant for the Protective Services Detail for the United States Military Representative United States Delegation to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization Military Committee (PSD USMILREP USDEL NATO MC). Wasn’t that a mouth full!
I left the US Army in the spring of 2000. I then drove a truck over the road until 2010 when I was injured on the job. I spent the next 2 years in rehab. Then, at the age of 53, I officially retired after 39 years of continual employment working 50 – 90 hours per week. I never knew what a “9 – 5” job was.

I bought my Spyder in October 2012 and have never been happier!

Close to 30 years working as a RN, mostly in state metal hospitals. Pension gave me too little money, too much free time to spend, so I work a day or 2 a week.....
...in a private hospital psychiatric ward.

Let alone travel. How many of those colored states did you do on a Spyder?

I'm retired from retirement, and continue to work in physical therapy as a per diem. I get to hear all kind of personal stories, just like on Spyderlovers.

Probably been polled before but just curious. Seems many if not most of us Spyder Riders are retired.
How long and from what?

I am retire The Public Service, Electrical industry. 7 years in Hydro Operations and 23 years in System Dispatching. Then 20 years as LEO in Reserves and Superior Court Bailiff. Now just loafing around, hoping to Ride.
I did never know anyone was in Soap Lake? I was in Moses Lake 63-65, Larson AFB at the time. Anyhow I am retired USAF and retired from Airgas as a service Field Engineer for Miller, Lincoln, Esab and other welder manufacturing companies.

Retired USN, as a Hospital Corpsman Chief, March 85, after 22 years. Worked for VA State Mental Health System for a little over 25 years as a Manager of a hospital laundry, retired October 2010. Bought my 10 Spyder as my retirement gift, after a bit over 46,000 miles traded for a '14 RTS SE-6. Enjoyed the '10 and really like the '14, except the fuel pump noise. Oh well... Like others, no master except the wife, and she can be tough...

Retired from the U.S Coast Guard after 28 yrs, 4 months, immediately hired as a Jail officer in Portsmouth VA worked there 4.5 years got tired of the 12 hours shifts and short handedness and decided to seek a bachelors degree in Accounting which allowed me to get a job as a civilian General Service with DoD Office of Inspector General worked there for 12 years, decided I wanted to make another change so I retired from there Sept 2014.
