There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. How many Spyder Ryders are Retirees? How long and from What?

Hi Gator,

Re: How long and from what?

Spent 3 yrs 10 mos 24 days in the USAF. Spent 3 yrs 3 weeks as a federal empoyee ( Mech Engr ).

I now own/operate a small 1-man business designing/building parachute products.

As I like to say: Retirement is the best job I've ever had.

Now, I want to live long enough to bankrupt my retirement system.

Been retired 2 years

My last decade of semi-honest labor was as a consultant traveling around helping companies apply government regulations to computer systems. Lots of travel, low stress. But doing nothing is still the best gig yet.

Can't retire.... too young

Managed newspapers in three Canadian provinces and ten US states before settling in Georgia where I was vice president of a media company that owned TV stations and newspapers. I oversaw operations of six daily newspapers in Georgia before I retired in June, 2006.

Started my own consulting company with a few clients but got really bored by the latter part of 2007 so went into debt at age 70 and bought a company that sells colored comics to newspapers in southeastern states. Still growing it eight year's later but the company is now paid for.

Wrote a book about my 44 years in the business titled

Not Extinct Yet (available on Amazon.com and at Barnes and Noble...plug, plug).

It's kinda cool driving to call on our clients on Spyders (my wife is the president of the company). Last year we Spydered to clients in Florida, Alabama, Kentucky and Tennessee and tied that trip in with Spyderfest. Later in the year we Spydered to clients in Virginia, North and South Carolina.

This year we've already visited clients in Mississippi and plan to visit a few more.

Retired 2 years ago from IBM after over 31 years ending in Business Management and Vendor Contract Management. Surveyed for the PA Dept. of Trans. before that for 11 years. Surveyed just about every inch of I81 through PA, and many other highway projects during the 'Highway Boom' of the 60's and 70's!!!

Like others have stated, no job as good as retirement though!!

I was a ASE certified master mechanic before kidney disease put a stop to that. Was on dialysis for 8 years. Then on March 23 2012, I got a kidney transplant.

Wife received her kidney July 31, 2007. She did peritoneal dialysis for 18 months.

Retired in 2010 after 34 years in public service...Police and Fire Depts.
Retirement is the best job I have ever had!

I retired from Law Enforcement in '03 and did Daddy Daycare for 3 yrs. Then worked at a couple of jobs including an Apple Store. Finally started really enjoying retirement about 8 yrs later.

The wife retired from Law Enforcement June 2013. While enjoying our biggest thrill of the 150th Anniversary at Gettysburg we got a phone call that our house was on fire. Sadly the wife has yet to enjoy retirement as our house is just about finished on the rebuild. Riding has helped keep our sanity tho.

Retired

I am retired now for a year and a half. Spent 25 years in the open heart operating room working as a perfusionist. Retired from that and worked as a Harley mechanic for the last 15 years. Had to give it up. Rode nothing but HD for 40+ years and got too hard to hold a dresser up anymore and wanted to stay in the wind and hate traditional trikes so made the switch to the Spyder! Excited to be going to our first Spyderfest this year!

Retired from USAF with 20 years service in 1989. Worked 6 months for a friend at his equipment business. Couldn't get along with his wife or the low pay. Went to work for a major indoor/outdoor cleaning solutions company as an area service rep. Very good company, some great people. Wife got tired of me coming home all stove up after 10-14 hours a day. I got tired of the politics and self serving management. I retired after 24 years. Had an offer from a "company" to come to work for them. Money was very good. Time "on the road" not so good. Turned them down.

Won't bore you with what I do now. Suffice it to say, I'm busy. Wife and I ride every chance we can.

Vidman, sorry to hear about your home. When you are ready, if you want to return to Gettysburg, I would be glad to give you a personal tour of the battlefield. I'm not a licensed guide, but have been a Civil War Buff for most of my life and live within 50 miles of Gettysburg. It's also one of my favorite places to ride my Spyder and my previous bikes.

Best of luck on the rebuild!
