• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. How Many Ride an RT Limited After The 5 years Of BRP Warranty Has Expired?

The handle broke 1st while trying to open the case. When I took it apart, I saw the cable was rusted inside the armor about 8-10 inches from the handle. The cable snapped when I pulled on it! I guess moisture got sprayed in and settled at the bottom bend? Waiting for the other side to go.

They replaced one of mine with the upgraded cable (I think it is stainless steel). Guess I will have them do the other one soon. Right now, my tools, tire repair kit, and jump starter is locked in that saddle bag.

@MikeT, I have a 2020 RTL with 57000+ miles and plan to keep riding it until it or I expire!
Bought it new and have had NO problems to speak of.
Do all my own maintenance including tire changes.

Love It.

I have a 2021 RTL with 43000+ miles, and still have about a year on the warranty. When it expires, I will still ride the bike, bought new, lots of add ons. No issues, do 90% of maintenance myself! Cannot justify buying new when this one runs great!

You can get to the latch from above. Remove the rear seat and the narrow panel (2 screws and some wiggling). You can slide the latch plate from there with a screwdriver or whatever. Putting the panel back is a pain. You may also be able to release it from under the rear inward from the saddlebag. Can't recall if you can see the cable where it loops down from the handle.

My Spyder is an RTL, a 2012, so it is kind of an antique. It has 81,000 + miles on it and would have more miles on it, but health problems have slowed me down a little. I bought it with 8,000 miles on it from the original owner when it was 3 years old, so it had no warranty. I did buy a two year extended warranty which I used twice, once to repair the compressor and once for something else that I don't remember. I also hit a deep pot hole and caused a problem with the shift shaft. I ended up fixing that on my own dime (actually several dimes). The Spyder runs great, requiring nothing but gas, oil, plugs, brakes, and tires. BTW, it has lots of chrome, and I love it. I have added a BajaRon sway bar, regular car tires, EBC front discs, EBC pads all the way around, some extra lights, LED head lights, LED driving lights, and a Hartco International custom seat. I will be keeping this Spyder until I quit riding.

I am the proud owner of a 2016 Spyder RTL. And Yes, it has been a great Ryde. It has the plastic polish chrome so no problem with rust or corrosion. It does seem to scratch fairly easily. Not like a '57 Chevy Bumper. You know how it goes.

You get what you pay for. That's the way it happens now. (y)

I bought a 2014 RT Ltd new and after 11 years and 138,400 miles of relatively trouble free riding I traded it in for a new 2025 RT Limited. After the initial 3,000 mile check up on the 2014 I did all the maintenance on the bike myself. Over the years I replaced the brake master cylinder, rear brake caliper and rotor, both front brake rotors, flushed the brake fluid twice, and multi[le batteries and tires. I added quite a few third party products from Tricled and Lamonster. I did buy the BUDS system and the laser alignment equipment while costly they proved invaluable to maintenance trouble free riding.
Bought the 2025 in early October and currently have 1,800 miles on it. This week I'm installing the INNOVV K7 dashcam system (had the K2 on the 2014). I am retired and living in central Ohio and will ride every day the roads are dry and temperature above 40 degrees F.
At 81 I still enjoy every moment I can take wind in the face.

.

2014 RTS with lots of farkels and mods. Ecu flash with intake and exhaust mods allows me to easily outrun all the spyders. I believe it will outlast me........

Still enjoying my 2012 RTSE5.
Throttlebody replaced twice under warranty. If I remember correctly it got fried due to some wrong values in the fly by wire settings. It got too high voltage or amps, not sure what exactly.
Shop got a new throttlebody innstalled and new software loaded and I rode home, that is allmost home, the new one also fried and put me in Limp mode. Back to the shop next day and the ordered a new throttlebody.
Turned out the new one fried due to the new software was loaded, but not activated, so it went back to the original software.
This time the mechanic ticked the "activate software" and it has been running great since then.
Drive belt changed once and the air compressor replaced once also, all done by me.
I try to do oil/filter and tyre changes myself and luckily the local dealer still service my old Spyder if I gave issues I can't handle myself. (y)
