There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. How many miles have you ridden in one day on an RS?

:2thumbs:I have a 2011 RT-SME first trip we did about 440 miles a day no problems wife an I weren't wore out enjoyed every day trip was from pell city Alabama to newton Kansas then to Jackson miss. then home pell city LOVE EVERY MOMENT:doorag::firstplace:

2 years ago I did 1004 miles in 18h 42minutes from Branson,MO to dirt town thru Fargo, ND. Got some pressure spots with the stock seat and stock handle bars, that was with 2 1 hour breaks to see joe E from MO and Larry from IA.

on the way to durango I did 1000 miles in 16hr 48 min, I hit 1389 at the 24hr mark and got to durango at 1566 miles in 27.5hrs straight on the bike. I have a air hawk 14"x10" pad and the foam cut out under it so you sit in the right spot.

As far as passenger comfort I would NOT say it is as good as a RT but you go to use what you have. If you build up to it 500 miles in a day is nothing.

I bought my spyder to ride it and I know some people have legit reasons for trailering their spyder but most don't to me, just seems to be a huge waste of money and time to just ride a motorcycle or a spyder around the area of a owners meet but people say I am crazy for the way I ride to.

684 miles on my GS...could have went farther but I made it home first. :)

That is with a stock seat, with firefly's bead riders on it. ESI risers and touring shield.

My wife and I had a couple 700 mile days in 2010 going to and from the Chicago event. As long as you have a backrest for your passenger and take some time at gas and meal stops you should be able to make 500 miles in one day. Or when your passenger tells you you are done. They are the one with nothing to do. Let them dictate the distance you can ride.

I don't always keep track of it like I should. I know we did about 1150 in about 18 hours coming home from CA. We did a total of 1460 with 2 or 3 hour lay down in-between.

2008 RS, stock seat and riser/setbacks. Really missed my cruise control though.

I would be VERY flexible with any passenger if you want them to go again. Be prepared to stop as much and as long as they would like. It can be a much different experience on the back than it is in the driver's seat.

My trip to SpyderFest this year included 5100 miles door-door and a Saddlesore 1000 on the first night out the gate, 1035 miles from San Diego, CA-Amarillo, TX. I was suprised that after the first 2 gas stops my body settled in and knew it was in for the long haul and except for when i got on and off the Spyder, it was no real bother.

I averaged about 400 miles the rest of my 2 week trip and my handlebars, windshield and seat are all stock 09 parts.

as for 2 up...it depends on how much you want to see as well. if you want to sightsee a lot, split it up. if you don't want to see so many side attractions, and if the wife can handle it, make it in a day.

1,520 miles in 22 h (2009, on the way to Hollywood Ca Owner Event).

70 mph average...counting fuel stops, meals, rest room breaks, etc. Do not try this at for your first trip with your wife!

i have made 2 long trips over 500 miles in one day. I am 69 years old. and no back problems
a little monkey butt maybe oh yeah

ponte vedra beach fl to johnson city tn 548 mile

ponte vedra beach to fontana dam nc on the border to tenn. over 500 miles

2008 gs stock
i have put 72k on as of today.
hope it makes it to 100k and i'll buy another roadster

My wife and I rode 2up from San Diego CA to ALBQ NM (825 miles) on the way to Spyderfest in '11 and again in '12. Just rode San Diego CA to Durango CO (785 miles) solo. I have a stock seat, no riser, no cruise control but I do have a taller windshield!

820miles from Durango to home was my longest day on the Spyder RS. Last August I did approx 730 from St. Louis MO to home.

Yeah.. like I rode 2,500 miles to get to a TRAILER show..... lol.

It's about the journey--- NOT the destination. The day that I feel the need to trailer my Spyder to an event is the day you might as well dig my grave. nojoke
Spooking like I true biker I feel you my brother I have toured to 49 states and loved every mile with out a/c and being caged LOL

I've done 700 in a day--- solo on my GS (same as RS)......

Two up will be more difficult....

Also depends greatly on what comforts you have installed.

I could not do it without: Corbin seat, handlebar risers, throttle lock.

If you have a stock seat it's gonna be a looooong day.

I'd lean towards breaking it into two days for the comfort and safety of your passenger.........wanna keep her happy..... ;)

May have to check into aftermarket seats.....

We won't be two up... I have a Green RS-S SM5 and she has a Black RS SE5.

Thanks for the input.

For your first long journey, breaking it up into two segments makes sense. Beyond 300-400 miles things get a bit tougher. You don't want to sour your wife on the experience. You can stretch the days farther as you get experience and talk about the idea. Just for the record, the Spyder GS/RS wasn't more than a few months old when a couple of riders did 50 CC rides (<50 hours Coast-to-Coast).

I agree. I think I could push on thru by myself, but it may be a bit much for my better half.

Thanks

i and the was have been talking about this we use to ride about 600 miles a day when we toured on 2 wheels has we ride the spyder i notice less fatigue we leave Sunday on our trip to IL from MA

650 Miles in 10 hours on an RS (GS) - at the time stock seat and OEM windshield. Was solo with 2 other spyders for the first half of the ryde; then Sabunim5 and myself made the return trip - Pensacola to Lake City Fla and back.
