• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

How many miles do you ride?

35,000 miles - two years next month. No problems, 1 new rear tire at 20K; front tires at 28K. Dealer maintained under a service contract.

I have been taking it a little easy ... 3500 miles on the Vulcan in the last month and only a couple of hundred on the Spyder ...

Mid-October will be 26 months and 30,000 miles on my 2011 RT-S SM5. Rear tires every 9K, several water pump seals and a failed clutch slave cylinder. Ride strictly for pleasure -- don't start it up unless we're going 200 miles.

Dam I jealous, Id love to get to ride mine as much as some of riders here. I have not had mine a year yet but should be 5k or less but I only work 1/4 of a mile from my house.
You get an entire quarter of a mile commute; you're lucky!
My commute is thirty feet... :opps:

QUOTE: SpyderAnn: "If you are planning on buying a 2014 this info won't be relevant as the engine is different and so is the maintenance schedule".

There are a lot of high milers on here--some with near or over 50K on a specific machine.

When :spyder2: first came out, I put 20,000 miles on mine within the first year.

I traded off the 2008 at 23,500 for a new RT. I currently have 35,000 miles on that one.

The 2009 has 25,000 plus on it, and our new 2011 RT has 9500 in a little over a year.

I have not experienced any major mechanical difficulties in the 93K miles mentioned above on four different :spyder2:'s. Two were first year offerings.

Picked my RT in August. 2010 have a little over 36,000 miles on it now avg about 12 k per year. No problems except for recalls.

Picked my rs up August 2012 and have put over 19,000 mile on it and have not had any problems. Oil changes every 5000 miles new back tire and spark plugs at 14,000 that's it.....have loved every mile:thumbup:

Picked up my 2012 RT in July 2012.Have ridden it exactly as I rode my Goldwing the previous years .Have done 22000 problem free miles .

ivor:spyder:

I appreciate the responses as is typical on boards like this most are quiet unless there is a complaint. I started to be concerned that 10k per year was not practical, but the posts show this is normal for many. Thanks for the posts and keep them coming.

local rides

i will try to maintain an even 1000 per month till trade in 2015 or so.

well unless we do a lot of trips:bowdown::bowdown::bowdown::bowdown::bowdown::bowdown::bowdown::bowdown:

millage so far

bought new 2012 rt-s July 2013 now have over 3300 miles on it. If it wasn't for that 4 letter word work it would have a bunch more.

29,000 on my '09 GS in 3 years with very little downtime.
5,000 on my 2013 ST and it's been in the shop more than out. I am hopeful they get the 2013's straightened out soon.

My wife's 2009GS has about 22,000 on it now (3 years) and very little downtime.
