• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Hey guys/ gals!

Wondering - how many miles/km are we seeing on the rs/gs belt?

Also, when a belt is replaced, are the front and rear sprockets replaced at the same time?

How many miles/km are we seeing before it iis time to replace front and rear spockets?
Thanks!

I would think the life of the vehicle as long as nothing happens to cause damage to it.

The belt is very tough, enough so to carve a groove into my front pulley due to an alignment issue. So far the only time I have heard of sprockets being replaced was due to malfunction or severe wear issues. I have read of a few belts needing to be replaced due to damage from rocks and other items as well.

I agree. With normal wear, that is no abuse or nature injected problems, I would project 100,000 miles.

New kid on the block . . .

First post, so . . . First things first -
Just sold the '07 Harley FLHT. Now running a 2010 RS SE5 (new leftover). Still getting used to it - it is DIFFERENT in the corners!!

Comment on belt life: Harleys have been running belts going onto decades now and belt life has not been an issue if run at the proper tension and you do not trap a stone (or whatever) between the belt and the sprocket.

As for sprockets on the FLHT, over time they lost some chrome plate, but if no foreign object damage, tolerate the chrome loss. (Are the Spyder sprockets chromed??)

I'll have more questions later . . .

:welcome:

No, the front pulley/sprocket is not chromed. Here is a link to a thread to show what happened to mine:
