• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I changed mine in a little under 50 minutes and didn't have to get out of my wheelchair. I know this is longer than human beings so I want to see how long it take's people usually. I changed both filters and I have a pic of my Shift filter.

Was wondering what other peoples filters look like, I changed this filter about 8k ago. I should have got a pic of the normal oil filter which is in the cup behind the small one.

thanks again to ken and ron for sending me the filters.

Changed mine last week: both filters, new washers and O rings. Took me an hour: tupperware removal to reinstall. 3,100 miles and both filters were less messy than yours. No metal on the magnetic drain plug.

Uh, by the way you are totally human.

Pretty darn good time dude. I didn't time mine, but I'd say an hour plus or minus a few minutes!

Doesn't look that bad. It's a paper filter, mainly what you are seeing is the paper fibres of the filter, not dirt or anything. Not uncommon for a paper filter to look like yours after a while. I don't see any issues. Now if you had specs of metal on it, then you may have a problem.

I don't have an semi auto, but off hand I'll say your filter looks good.
50 minutes is is right on the money. It takes me over an hour+ or so,
And before someone says they can do it in 15 minutes, I'm timing from the minute i pull in my garage, warm the engine, get the tools and oil ready, drain the oil, change the filter, put the old oil in a container, clean up the mess and tools, ,and put every thing away.

Over 3 hours. But then, I don't have anything pressing me to do it any faster. It's a time to really enjoy the Spyder in a way only I can understand.

About 4 hours, lol... the oil change took about 90 min but then I added a diode protected relay that feeds the new fuse panel I installed in the frunk at the same time.

Changed mine last week. yours looks better then the one I took out. It looks like paper was just starting to distort and collapse on mine. Did not time how long it took but it must have been over a hour.

Did you do the tank screen too??
I hit that one every other oil change.

I have my splash pans off so oil changes are super easy --- last one before my trip I was in a hurry and did it in 25 min......

25 is pretty good, what is a tank screen? I just go up so maybe I am not thinking, I did it just in time to not be late for work and I think I can get it down to 40 minutes.

wheelchairing it takes a little more planning and that is really not my thing. Impatient's is my bane.

The hose that goes from the side of the oil tank to the engine- you remove the clamp, remove the hose from the tank, unscrew the large nut which ends up being the screen unit. Clean it out with something like carb cleaner and dry it with air compressor.

Put back together and use worm- clamp so it's easier to remove in the future. Simple stuff - but should be cleaned.

That's pretty much how long it takes me too, Seth. I don't rush it or anything as I usually take that time to look at other stuff around the machine and just putter around. I'd say your filter looks OK. Nice work, dude!
