How Long did you wait?

:spyder: After 10 long months I will be picking up my Yellow Spyder today 5/9/08. I ordered it back on 7/9/07. Just wondering how long all of you waited? My number is 2424. ::)

Congratulations and have lots of fun and ryde safe

Congratulations as well,

But I can't help but wonder how serial numbers as high as 3000+ are delivered earlier while your roadster is delivered much later? You would think that serial numbers of manufactured items would be manufactured in sequence, maybe some variation based on parts and options, but not hundreds of numbers apart. And following my (un-logic) that similar serial numbers would be ready for shipment about the same time. That leaves distribution to mix-up numbers, (say yellow one in CA, and NC, but a silver in FL) very close serial numbers, but going different places. But could this cause roadsters delivered to be hundreds of numbers apart? So, following my (un-logic) again, that means that certain dealerships may be discriminated against in delivery from the factory based on things like "number of units they sell", or their "ability to reconcile invoices due", or "out-of-the-way locations" by BRP. And following my (un-logic) again, perhaps the dealership is "not keeping it's customers satisfied by "date of pre-order" because of (I don't want to think bad thoughts here) reasons.

I worry, because my dealership has said that he has orders since last July also not satisfied. I ordered an SE5, and know they are not available yet. But I am not understanding why some dealerships have not received orders that clearly (by BRP's official revised North America Delivery Update Statement) should have been received. I wonder if dealerships have too much discretionary power on when they will satisfy your order or not. In other words, a pre-order certificate means very little, just a way for BRP to get money up-front, and use that capital with no guarantee when it will be satisfied.

:congrats:
It will be well worth the wait. Mine was ordered June 7 and I picked it up Dec. 15 #537 with 7000 miles now :doorag:  :spyder:

Congrats on the Spyder! :spyder:

I got mine just over a month ago and my number is 3783. There isn't much rhyme or reason as to how the numbers are distributed. I've seen numbers delivered that are way out of sequence many times before. Heck my own dealer got three or four Spyders shipped together and those ones aren't close to being in sequence. The range was about 1200 or 1500 between the highest number and the lowest one.

Being that I work in a truck manufacturing plant, I can add one thing as a possible answer to the random, out of sequence, numbers. If a vehicle is caught with a bad enough defect, one that can't be repaired on the line but must be entirely rebuilt, the build sequence just continues on and that job or vehicle number is scheduled back into the production sequence at some later date. I'm not saying this is definately the way BRP does things but it is the way at least one of the big three do it.

Thanks wolfspyder...

I can understand what you explained. And after this comment, I DON'T PLAN TO WHINE ANYMORE.

1. Why give us a pre order certificate number if they can't use it to somewhat keep orders straight. Because they number these certificates, they ought to have an obligation to use them to keep a "place in line"
2. How can reject models, demos, and other non-dealer obligations explain a 1887 number gap and the time between deliveries. Lamonster gets #537 in December07 when he orders June and this new owner gets #2424 in May08 when he orders in July ????? And yet others with serial numbers into the 3000+ have theirs already ??????
3. BRP should discontinue the pre-order certificate, you go to the dealer, want to buy a Spyder, and they say... It's in stock or out-of-stock. And if it's out of stock, then they tell you when you might expect an order. For some of us, another roadster (maybe the new Harley design will be coming soon) might come available before they can get Spyders back in-stock. So you switch brands. Or better yet your dealer does some swapping with another dealer for a Spyder for you, (like cars). But because BRP has us by the $1000.00 they decide when, do not divulge their production schedule, or even let the dealership know the status on your order.... WE have no flexibility, and BRP doesn't seem to care.

I put my money down on 06/06/07 and took delivery on 12/11/07 of #59.

There is no rhyme or reason for delivery or numbering.

I do however count myself fortunate for a timely delivery.

235 days.I ordered mine on 9/20/07 and picking it up this Monday 5/12/08.I feel lucky considering others I've talk to have been waiting a long time for theirs and late(especially those that been waiting for over a year).Mine is #3712.Also a letter from brp.com states the situation on the Premier Edition Spyder Clarifications.I'm pretty happy with the results and see ya on the highway javascript:void(0);

Not sure if I really want to do this to you guys, but, here goes...

I demo rode one at bike week on a thursday, end of March 2008. Bought one the next Sunday, yep, 3 days later, and rode it home. #1255 And I had my choice of colors.

I do not understand how those of you who ordered early didn't get yours first. It really sucks. My dealer has them in stock and on the show room floor right now. -?-

It is my understanding that the # is related to the vin number, that is why they are not in sequence... Could be wrong...

Oh yea, it's a screwy system. How about this? I ordered my yellow Spyder in August of 2008. The owner of the dealership and the service manager ordered their yellow Spyders sometime after mine. My wife ordered her silver one sometime in between those orders, about a week or two after me. My wife got hers first, early March of 2008 with a number of 2518. My yellow one comes in at the end of March number 3783. The dealer and his service manager get theirs about two weeks later and I believe both of them have PE numbers lower than mine, I know the service managers number is lower. Go figure....... :dontknow:

::) Had to share this with all of you who like me waited a long time to get your Spyder. Picked up my Yellow one today at 1:00 P.M. Everything went smoothly. Spyder was ready with most of the accessories installed. Hindel exhaust, seat skin, Taller windshield, bar riser, knee kit, and cover in the trunk. Back rest and rack still on back order. The paper work went smoothly. Bought the 3 year extended warranty, paid the man and walked through the showroom toward my waiting Spyder. Spotted another Yellow Spyder sitting on the floor and asked my sales guy " I's someone comming in to pick that one up soon?" " No that one is for sale" So the next person who sees me riding mine can just walk into this dealership and buy it with no waiting :spyder: Oh well I'm just happy to riding mine.

Congrats to all that finally have got there :spyder: 's.
There are so many diffrent stories to hear some good some bad!. But at least in the end we all are getting what we wanted. I hope!! I know my :spyder: is the coooolest thing I have ever rode.
