There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. How long can I leave my Spyder in the garage without starting it up/taking it out?

Title says it all, but some context:

- Going on a long (non-ryding) trip, our Spyder will be unused for about 25 days
- Spyder will be staying home in our building's parking garage -- it's private, covered and safe, but no electricity drop to our parking spots, unfortunately, so...
- No battery tender possible, and
- No putting it up on blocks, etc.

Happy to listen to why I should somehow overcome the latter two limitations (I would probably agree), but am mostly interested in knowing if I need to arrange to have it started up and maybe taken around the garage while I'm gone, or if I don't need to worry. Spyder is a 2017 RT bought new in December, and has had the initial 3000 mile service done recently.

If you recommend starting it up and running it a bit, how long should it be run to do the battery charging justice, etc.?

Thanks in advance for your input.

Twenty five days should not be a problem if you have a good battery. Ride it good to have it all charged up before the final "sleep" park.

A battery tender would be good if you could run a long extension cord--???

Other suggestions will come along.:popcorn::popcorn:

For winter storage (November - Late April) I park the Spyder in a heated garage, add some Stabil to the tank, and put the battery on a tender. Never had a problem. For 25 days of non riding, personally I wouldn't do anything.

Well....

for that length of time you should be fine. I do that from time to time and it fires right up. Make sure you don't leave anything plugged in that can drain the battery fill the tank and your all good.

IMG_6257.jpg No power no problem FYI found @ tractor supply. Rather than trusting someone else with your toy: only 25 days you should be good if is a good battery & charged before you leave. When you get back have some cables handy anyway, just in case. Or a jump pack

No problem

If there is sunshine, a solar maintainer is an option. 25 days is nothing if your battery is charged up.

Charge or not

I have a 2014 RT and have had battery issues since I day I bought it ( long crank times ).... So after getting a mini lithium charger I have been waiting for the battery to fail - no luck yet ..... So when I brought it in for the Winter I decided not to put it on a Maintainer ..... well 4+ months later I started it up and it started fine ( go figure ) .... So I haven't been able to test the charger yet ..... :banghead::banghead::banghead: ...............Mike

Mike,
If you really want to give something a test: hook a couple of large Vise Grips to the terminals, and have them stand up vertically...
Then: toss a large metal screwdriver down into the cradle created by the grips!!

But order your next battery first! :roflblack:

Winter storage..... from middle of Oct. to first week-end in April mine is in a heated garage, battery tender/maintainer, full tank of gas, oil changed. No problems.

Be sure to let your insurance company know about the storage.

I haven't started mine since Nov until last Saturday. It will be fine. I did have a battery tender on mine too.

But I would disconnect the battery for long periods without a battery tender

It should be good. Our RT has set for over a month and started right up. Had a new battery installed almost a year ago and it did fine. Like others have said disconnect the negative cable if you feel better about it setting that long. Good luck.

hey, I'll come over and take it for a spin for you!!:roflblack: It will be fine for that length of time, but I would help you out if you was a little closer to Maine! Have a good trip!!
