How long before it is time to replace a motorcycle helmet?

I have a" HJC Motorcycle" helmet, the manufacture says to " it needs to be replace every 3-5 years depending how much you use it. Here is the Website for HJC: HJC.com for more info.

Also, they said Helmet Disposal If you buy a new helmet destroy the old one to ensure it cannot be reused. DO NOT sell or give away your old helmet. Deanna777
