How I envision a Can Am designer

If I was on that team, I would have picked this up during the first prototype usability tests.

Fill ups are such a pain. The nozzle shuts off long before the tank is full. So I have to hover the lever to keep the gas going. Also, the tank gas input (or what ever it's called, I'm IT so its an input) is so small I cant peek in and see if its full.

I also would have noticed the gas gauge doesn't work :sour: I build software systems for a living, and in software, testing is a high priority. And tests are done by people with different perspectives. Engineers, analysts, and everyday users test and provide feedback.


I get the impression Can Am designers ARE NOT riders. More like some urban Yuppie hipster college boy on his electric scooter.

Some different types of fuel have specially sized nozzles to prevent accidentally filling a tank with an incompatible fuel. That's the reason for the small hole.

Early pump shut off? Don't put the nozzle all the way into the tank, or if you do, once it auto stops the first time, cheat a little by inserting it an inch or two into the tank and slowly bring it up to your desired level(usually when fuel is seen gurgling from the little slits by the filler hole).

The analog gas gauge is a joke. The digital gas gauge is actually quite accurate. Their relative importance of use to each individual, seems to depend on whether they primarily ride where stations are plentiful, or where you may or may not see a station for a couple hundred miles.

Interesting, I have filled my Ryker up 3 times and have not had a single issue. And if there's an analog gauge on the Ryker I haven't found it, the whole gauge cluster is digital.

I know "0" about the Ryker, and little, very little, about the 1330 models. If you're happy, we're happy.

Edit: His fueling complaint, and my response, is applicable to all Spyder's.

No one really knows how much fuel can be stuffed into a spyder's gas tank.

The gas tank filler tube is pretty much standard on all motorcycles made for the American market. And, gas fill level gauges are going to have some degree of inaccuracy because of the irregular design of the tank on any motorcycle. At least they have a gauge instead of the reserve petcock method of knowing when you're running low.

You're not a fan of BRP. We get it. Can't understand why you are even on a forum for enthusiasts.
