• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

How hard is it to remove the cougar skull from the Spyder?

You know... The portion that holds the headlights, shield, mirrors, cluster....

In thinking about paint, I'm pondering getting that painted as well.

You're ambitious!

Nah... Others have done it, and depending on the paint scheme it can look really nice and add a lot of pizazz to the bike.

I'm going to paint my black panels and leave the silver alone except for some paint on the hood, and perhaps the cougar skull.

Be very careful when you remove it. The 2 nuts in the rear sides will go to neverland. Ask me how I know:shocked:.

To remove the cougar head, you have to drop the trunk and remove the center colored body panel, which of course means removing a whole lot of other body panels first. You have two bolts with the sliding nuts on the rear, these nuts are the ones that can go missing, and tow bolts on the lower part of that front bracket shown in Mr. Orange's picture above.

You have to pull the gauge cluster, and disconnect your turn signal wires from the clips and the connectors. They can stay on the part you are trying to remove, they just need to be disconnected. The main headlight connection is also in front, by the bracket with the 2 bolts you had to remove, and you need to disconnect that as well.

Then it is just a matter of sliding it forward, then tilting the rear part up, and pulling it off the Spyder. Due to all of my extra wiring, I never actually pulled it all the way off but got it far enough to do what I needed to.

Best of luck with it.

Jeez Dan,
New baby, new job, and you still have time to mod out your Spyder?
:joke:

Good luck w/ your project my friend! Hope to see you at some point this year!:doorag:

Well.. Not really. :helpsmilie:

But... I think I'm compromising on the paint, and found a scheme that might be more efficient time-wise so that I don't screw up my riding season. I should be able to start taking her apart in February.
