• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

How far have you riden on a rs or rss

in the past when I take a vacation.. I want to get to "new scenery" most days I ride around 700 miles a day... I have done 1000+ miles in a day quite a few times... registered "iron butt association member #18316" .. some days when I get where I plan to investigate, I might ride less than 100 miles in a day..
I think its up to each rider depending on their stamina & mental conditioning on how many miles someone can ride in a 24 hr period.. one thing for sure, if you are riding and find yourself getting sleeply, tired or having trouble concentrating on the road ahead... STOP - there will be other days !!!

1156 miles

Last year pulling a trailer the Wife and I road 1156 miles home from Spyderfest I wanted to get my IRON BUTT. It was a long trip took 20 hr.’s with stops every 145 to 150 miles. Any distance is possible it's just mind over matter, if you don't mind it don't matter. As it was notes hydrate in one of the biggest things. Go and enjoy the ride. jt pollock

Have fun touring new zealand and send us some Hobbit pictures :)

How far has anyone gone on a rs or rss and does 320 miles seem too far to ride on a 13rss. How offten did you take breaks?
I have had my 14 r s for about 2 months and run "up the hill " north of Ventura CA. about once or twice a week and on a good loop go about 200 miles in a day. Maybe in April I may pack an overnight bag and run up to Las Vegas ( 325 miles ) for a overnighter. Wish me luck !! On Friday went 225 miles and 2 days later went 175 miles. Not bad for an old guy ( 72 )
I have been riding bikes since 1959 ( 1948 B S A /a few Honda's ) and now my favorite- 2014 Can Am R S ( I love it ) smooth-- comfortable and looks great !
Must see how old the oldest iron butt rider is. Back in WI my pastor did the iron butt in 18 hours on a Rocket 3.

I did 700 plus miles with a trailer from Jasper Alberta To Tsawassen B.C. in one day. Arrived at the last ferr sailing with minutes to spare. 2008 GS, and still loving it.

Well I hope all of you were not a danger to yourselves or others on those 700-1250 or more miles per day rides. Like Clint Eastwood says "Man's got to know his own limitations"

Longest (and not in miles) day I ever rode was from Minneapolis to Sturgis in 1967. This was on my BSA 441 Victor. The engine was a single cylinder bolted directly to the frame. We camped out at the City Park on the East side of town with the "Hells Angles" from LA. I was shaking so bad they felt sorry for me and fed the four of us whisky and who knows what until I finally stop'd vibrating and shaking about 2 AM. I was beat for the next two days. In those days only 3-4000 people showed up and most wore colors. In 2000 or the early 2000's 800,000 people came and went for a two week period. Mostly"'want to be's" and "Shocker's"

How about a 2008 GS SE5 in 2009. We made a round about tour of the USA and Nova Scotia, Toronto and New Brunswick. In 7.5 weeks we traveled 13,624 miles. Some days over 500 miles, some under. Overall daily average about 260 miles/day. Subtract the 8 days we visited family, makes it about 300miles/day.

Wow that's quite a trip. You are my Hero!

If I remember correctly you got the prize at Lamont's BBQ for riding the furthest to the gathering.

600+ miles last summer in one day. The keys to comfort are replacing the stock RS windshield and seat with an all day saddle. Short rides are for Harleys.:doorag:

Rode to Spyders on the Bayou 2015 in Houma, LA. 587 miles from Nashville to there, and including rides a total of 1485 miles.

Left on a Wednesday and returned on Sunday. About a 100 miles in between stops to gas, stretch our legs and get something to eat.
