• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

How do you tell the Rear air compressor is working?

2022 RTL. How do you tell if the rear air compressor is working? I've been told that you can hear it. My passenger is 175 pounds. She'lll get on and I start it with both of us on.

I've never heard anything when she gets on. I had a dealer check it and was told it was working. ???

Thanks

They made them quieter. I don’t hear mine on this new bike, either. Just check the pressure with a tire gauge on the Schrader valve under your seat. If there’s pressure, it’s working. If you’re not bottoming out when riding two up, it’s working right.

IMHO, checking the pressure is a huge pia, trust your (collective) backside(s) & the sensors. If your not bottoming out, and your not getting a "suspension fault" dropdown on your dash; you're good to go.

I've never heard my compressor running, only releasing after my pillion weight, is gone.

It really is just a momentary hiss, CaptCharles…..usually a second or so. It is very faint, and occurs a couple of seconds after you add or remove weight. Mount, start the Spyder and put it in gear, park break off (I don’t think this is necessary, but just in case).
Then get your partner to hop on and listen carefully. Then get your partner to hop off and listen carefully for a few seconds.

Another way is to pull up in front of a wall, say 6’ away. Mount, start the Spyder, in gear, and get your partner to mark the top of your headlight beam on the wall. Then get your partner to hop on and see if the headlight beam moves. You will see an immediate move due to the extra initial weight, but there should be a slight further movement as the Spyder settles to its new level. It won’t be much, but you’ll see it.

I cant hear mine but because I watch and wait for the tail of the '17RTL rise and fall to make sure it has arrived at its desired point.

Trust me if the compressor was not working on your bike you would know it, it would be a crappy ride and the shocks in the rear of these things suck, so if your ride is good I think your compressors OK.
