• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

How do you prep-map your quests?

Gas Buddy app for gas stops pre-plan hotels with Hilton Honors being a Diamond member you can cancel and rebook if need with no issues or cost. I use the Waze app for directions

How do you get base camp to "tie in" with Google maps?

I am posting screenshots using a waypoint on a route I had previously set up. If you want to view a particular area, set a waypoint up in that area first, then follow the steps I give you.
On the first screen, the sequence is: 1. Click on the arrow to get the selection tool, 2. Click on the desired waypoint (in this case Enchanted Rock, 3. Click on View on the menu bar, 4. Click on Google Earth, 5. Click on View Selected.

When you do that, Google Earth opens showing the satellite view of your selected waypoint. You can use the slider on the right side of the screen to zoom in and out. The yellow and white lines superimposed on the roadways show lines taken by the google cars taking the pictures that comprise Street View. To get down to the level where you can see the area as you would from your vehicle, click and drag the yellow man figure (outlined in red) to one of the lines. I used the yellow line.

Street View opens up showing the roadway, I then clicked on the image and dragged to the right getting to the point where I could see the view shown in this screenshot. What is not shown in my screenshot is at the bottom of the screen it gives the coordinates of where I have the man figure. If I was looking for a particular feature, such as a state welcome sign, I can move along the roadway until I find exactly what I am looking for, then note the coordinates and edit my waypoint in Base Camp so that the waypoint moves to the location I intended to go to.
