Has anyone changed the rear brake pads on their RT? And is it necessary to remove the parking brake equipment or just remove the two bolts and slip the new pads in place.

There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Well I DID remove the parking brake stuff in order ot give me more fighting room. (Basically just the nut at the end of the whole shooting match...:thumbup
Once I got that out of the way it was a pretty straightforward job. I supose that I was VERY observant of how things lined up and felt with the parking brake parts so that I could get things slid back into place with a minuimum of whinmpering.
...And it actually worked the first time! :thumbup:

2014 RT SE6 Rear Brake Pad Replacement
I just changed rear brake pads on my 2014 RT SE6. I could not get the brake caliper piston to retract. Read on this site to use needle noise pliers to screw the piston back in. I turned (clockwise) and turned nothing happened. I discovered that I had to push very hard while turning the caliper piston clockwise. The piston retracted and I was able to put the new pads on. Thanks to this site, I was saved from a trip to my dealer and a costly repair bill.

The parking brake is the brake wear adjustment for the rear brake also . When you remove the rear tire , its a good idea to screw the piston in on the caliper to make it easier to replace the caliper back over the disk when your re-installing the caliper . To screw the piston back in you need remove the brake pads . The piston has 2 holes in the face of the piston , I used a pair of needle nose pliers to screw the piston clockwise back to the in position . After you replace the caliper use the parking brake arm to ratchet clockwise . This will push the brake pads together to align against the rotor . It will only ratchet in so far . You just adjusted the rear brake ! This is the technique I used and it worked . Good luck with your endeavor .
