• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

How do I replace 2020 RTL rear trunk lid shock/lift cylinder? Lid won't stay up!

How do you replace the trunk lid lift cylinder? I put a luggage rack and it will not stay up. I have heard you can install a spring on them to help make them stronger. I need some information on how to remove it. Thanks

Honestly, I sort of looked at my repair manual and didn't see any info on this.

Looking from inside the trunk there are two torx screws, have you tried removing these to see if the passenger back rest would come off? If so then there would be something holding the top plastic piece on that would need removing to give you access to it.

I would start there. Looking in from the rear, the strut is located on the right side, and you can barely see it in there.

I can see how anything at all will cause it to not stay up. Did you by any chance add the luggage rack?

McMaster Carr will have something that will work, you just have to look for it. Some people have said that they have gotten the seat struts from auto parts store so that's another source. No way would I put another OEM one on there as it is just too weak.

Thanks for sending me the two files to get my 3D piece for the trunk lid at makexyz in tempe AZ. It's an internet company that did the piece for $14.90 including shipping to me. It works great and takes 2 minutes to install.
