• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I am on my Spyder number 5 and 6 (2016 F3L and 2021 RTL). I have always had good luck with them and am truly a fan. I also have a 2-wheeler that I have enjoyed. I have lately thought about giving up the 2-wheeler and possibly picking up a Ryker Rally. My reasons are that I just feel safer on the 3-wheeler and would also like to explore some more off-road places. Nothing that would necessarily need a 4-wheeler to do, just some dirt roads and places that an enduro style bike might would go. I have ridden a Ryker when they first came out, and I thought they were OK, but I wasn't too serious. Now to the size part, I am 6'-2" and about 260. Would a Ryker Rally or at least the 900cc version be too small for me? And what is considered a good deal on something like a 2021 Rally?

I don't think so. Though you might need to beef up the suspension a little depending on how serious you are about off-roading. The reverse trike is not a great platform for off-road riding. Mostly the lack of traction at the rear wheel. As long as the road surface isn't cratered, gives decent traction, or needing more than average ground clearance, you should be OK. The extra weight is probably more of a plus off road than a negative.

I'd say you'll have to try it to know. It's going to depend a lot on the road conditions. Things like steep, tight turns, deep mud, off camber, etc., may well give you fits.

Thanks for that information. No, I am not into off roading at all. But there are a couple of dirt and unpaved roads that I have really wanted to explore in the NC/Tenn mountains, as well as at home. A good example is the dirt road to the observation or fire tower off Wayah Rd. just outside of Franklin, NC. I made an attempt to ride up that on my BMW K1600 about 16 months ago. It was not a pleasant experience and I had to turn around. Any road that I would be taking can easily be traversed with a truck or SUV. Just something different, since I am not riding my 2-wheeler as much anymore, and there are some sweet deals out about now on low milage Ryker Rallys.

I ride unsealed roads from time to time on my F3 here in New Zealand. Yeah I know. I do run that puny belt guard. No dramas so far.
Ground clearance and not going silly sideways around blind corners using most of the road are the first things that come to mind.

Reckon if you need more ground clearance the R Rally is the way to go.
 
you might NOT like the travel time from your house across I40 to the mountains. That higher RPM cause of the snowmoblie type of belt will get you plentyof buzzyness. Set your GPS to curvy roads and NON interstate might be better scenic views

Ah, Wayah Road. One of my favorites. I haven't done the fire tower but have taken Forest Service Road 388 into Rufus Morgan Falls trailhead and my Ryker Rally handled it just fine.

I try to stay off interstates even when riding the spyder. The main time I do is when we are making a bee line home. But if i got a ryker and took it to the mountains, I would probably actually trailer it there behind my small SUV and just have a blast while there and ride in comfort on the way home. For me, I don't see the Ryker as being a long distance traveler, especially with 2 other spyders in the garage.
