HOT Seat!!!

Here in AZ the driver seat on our 2012 RT Limited gets hotter than a pistol. Not bad for winter but bad for summer. Anyone have any ideas on how to desert the heat?

I know what you mean. I took an old beach towel and attached a long piece of elastic to each corner making a loop on each end of the towel. I attach it around the mirrors and around the rear trunk and it keeps the seat cool when i'm parked. Problem is that sometimes I forget to put it on and I wind up with toasted buns!

My wife and I have sheepskin covers on our RTs. Keeps in bearable in the summer and warm in the winter. I added my sheepskin after having Cowtown install a locking gas door on the seat. Hot chrome against the leg is not nice.

Got my geniune cool ass cover the other day. Worked great today. Very inexpensive and shipping was cheap even to canada .

I'm thinking you're talking about engine and/or exhaust heat coming through the front edge of the seat. I've had that problem too and would be interested in solutions others have found.

black vinyl seat is HOT

I watched a video of a guy using some sort of temperature "gun" to check the actual temp of different colors on his jacket....Dark being the hottest of course and so forth. He aimed the temp gun to the black vinyl seat on his bike and it actually registered 185 degrees! I've started covering mine when we take breaks on long rides.............brutal!:yikes:

I use "bead riders" and don't have the hot seat problems. When you sit on the seat, none of your butt comes in contact with the hot seat cover.

I have had the same problem and was reminded by another ryder that we have the travel cover that came with our RT LTD. Had never opened the bag until this week. Takes 2 minutes to install, keeps the sun off the seat and takes just a few minutes to store back in its self contained bag. Makes a big difference in seat heat after sitting in the sun.

Thanks, but only when I remember to use it! I could warm up some hot cross buns and rump roast on the Spyder seat and have lunch. :roflblack:

I just ordered a small seat cover from cycle shade, it not only shields the seat from the sun but also discourages people from sitting on my bike when it is parked somewhere.

Both the Airhawk or a Sheepskin/gel seatcover work excellent. The sheepskin will be the better insulator from heat. I have both, and switch them around depending on the pain of the day.
