There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. HOT OR NOT

SPYDERFUZZ

I have seen a lot of comments about burning feet and legs:yikes:. I have never asked this question but will do so now. Are the :spyder2:people complaining about a heat problem wearing the correct motorcycle gear? If you are waring sneakers, sandals and shorts then I can understand the heat problem.

I would like to hear some feed back on this subject. I may be wrong, and you are waring the correct gear. I have a 2012 RT S and I don't find the heat an issue. Now I do have Neuropathy that might account for part of it. I'm not trying to facieous just stating a fact.

I have a 2912 RT and ride with tennis shoes much of the time. Granted, we are in the north but, it still gets very warm here. No heat issues, ever.

The same with me. I use sneakers most of my rides and I never felt any exagerated heat. Cheers,

Some days it is my leather riding boots and pants, others it is shorts and sneakers. It makes no difference, my right foot is still hotter than the left. I don't complain about it, because I am usually having too much fun to care. There is going to be some heat on the right. The vent right behind the radiator assures you of that. It is more of a question of tolerance than of equipment or gear.

Just sayin'............

I ride in high-top leather boots and jeans, riding gear....the heat is better on my 2013 ST...but not right...bike still running too lean....too lean makes the engine run hotter.....on my 2009 RS never any heat issues...with riding gear

new boot

i was always in sneckers untill now but the heat problem has not gon away completely i have place the cover over the upper right hand side and still get heat from the radiator

ATGATT and also a serious amount of neuropathy...
No heat issues for me.
But I also only RARELY get caught in stop & go traffic...

If by "proper gear" you mean my preference, then I do understand why I feel the heat. Although I don't wear sandals, I do wear reebok tennis shoes. The rubber on the tip of my tennis shoes has become separated from the shoe itself due to the heat that blasts the front toe. Before all of you "purist" jump on my case about what I am wearing, let me just say I wear what I feel like I want to wear. I believe in choice and I choose tennis shoes. With that said, I still will express my opinion about the heat regardless of my choice.

I have a 2013 RT-S that has had a lot of heat problems and even burnt my inner thighs right through my heavy duty jeans. I always wear proper riding gear, boots over the ankles, long pants, ryding jacket, gloves and helmet. My husband took the advice of several spyderlovers and wrapped my pipes, added heat tape to various locations and put on spyder pops heat shield. I no longer get burnt and truly enjoy ryding my spyder. :dg2:

choices, choices..!!

Ryding gear is a choice and I respect everyone's choice. I for one have had the odd mishap and will only ryde with closed leather shoes/boots and long pants and long sleeved shirts. This is my minimum. Even full leathers at high speed have a 7 sec protection rating on pavement hence riders aim for the grass after a fall. But if you have never had this misfortune you are lucky and I hope it holds up for ever...jmo..

My biggest issue with my 2013 RT Limited was how hot the seat and my thighs got as really hot air shot up from around the seat latch. I fixed that with aluminum duct tape. As for heat from the right side radiator vents, it is more of an irritant than anything else. It gets very uncomfortable in heavy traffic, but not bad on the road. I've done none of the air vent covers . . . but my Spyder has never run hot, either as far as engine temp. Just engine heat going places it shouldn't have gone.

Ditto

I ride with all the proper gear and have no heat problems. Riding pants and boots.
Ditto here too. I wear Wolverine work boots. No problems...well, honestly, just one. It was a 100 degree day, and my left foot was in the sun for about an hour as it was afternoon, and I was headed North on the interstate. My left foot got kinda hot. But that was a sun issue, not a Spyder issue. I don't notice as much heat on the Spyder as I did on my Yamaha. As to choice, the most common injury for motorsports is toes, feet and ankles in that order. My choice is to reduce personal injuries. So I wear boots.

Ryding Gear

I thank you all for your responses and those that not waring riding gear that is your business and I respect that. I'm just wondering if those same people ware a helmet? Here in Texas we do not have a helmet law, some states do, but I do not back out of my garage until I put it on. At the safety school I attended they said the number one cause of motorcycle deaths were people that did not ware a helmet. They also said, I sure most of you know it, the majority of accidents were at intersections. That's all I'm going to say about it and I pray that we all enjoy our :spyder2: and we live long and have good heath. See you on the highway.

heat

if someone came out with a shroud that goes on the fan side of the radiator and directed the heat straight down i am sure it will make them a ton of money

Isn't that what the SpyderPops fan shroud does? (I think it was them anyway...)

Not for commercial is purposes, but I am working on a method to use a secondary fan to blow the heat out of the right side at a different angle. Since I only have problems in slow or stop and go traffic a respectable fan blowing out at an angle instead of straight back I am hoping will do the trick. Finding the right size fan that will survive the environment will be the trick.

I would rather try to extract all heat possible rather than block off stuff and redirect through smaller holes. It will be a while but once I get it done I will throw up pics for everyone's evaluation.

I didn't think I had a heat problem until I took a long ryde in 95* weather. When I had my feet up on the Lamonster highway pegs, the right foot got somewhat hot. I always wear jeans and boots.
