• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Horn on New 2014's

Can any new owner of a 2014 that also owned an earlier model (2011 or earlier) tell me if the improved the weak sounding horn on the new 2014 models? My previous 2011 LTD had a lousy horn until I replaced with a Stebul (sp) horn. Thinking about getting a '14 but don't really want to have to put in a new horn.

Thanks

While having to replace a horn seems silly... I wouldn't pass on the new bike over one!
And if the horn is the worst thing that we can find to gripe about; what does that say about the 2014???

The horn has not changed, BUT, it is in a new location and extremely simple to change.

If the horn is a deal breaker, you probably too picky to ride a Spyder.

It take TWELVE WHOLE SECONDS***, to start up?!?!? :gaah:
I don't have that kind of time to waste... :banghead:

Maybe HokieV is like me.....totally inept when it comes to anything electrical and is simply hoping the '14's are better so as not to have to pay a mechanic $90 or so per to put a better horn on. I didn't read his post as saying it being a deal breaker.:)

RE: deal breaker--since you mentioned my mis-interpretation of the OP message--I guess that I should have said something like--

IMO: the sound of the horn on the new 2014 as compared to other year models, would not affect my purchase one way or another. :roflblack:

Thank you for calling me out. I will try to do better in future posts.

Interesting point/question Hokiev about weak horn. I noticed Stebul & BAD BOY as horn options. What are some horn replacement systems that people have used?

Easy fix. All you have to do is tell the dealer to replace the horn as part of the deal, and yes the horn sounds the same.

PIAA "Freeway Blasters" on mine. Sounds like a Ford pickup. No extra relay just splice some spade connectors to fit the stock harness.

The 2014 seems to boot up quicker than the older ones and you can turn it off for longer without having to reboot it.
