• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Hoping it is gonna rain today in Los Angeles

TicketBait

RT-S PE#0412
My bike is all lemon pledged, and I have my GPS installed with approx 975 miles of clear blue sky riding on the odometer...
...well today there is a chance of rain, :pray:and I need and want the practice, I have a client I have to see at Dream Works, so
this is the perfect opportunity (am I nuts ) :D. should add 90+ miles today

I will be bringing my travel cover along too,and have it down putting
it on. I should tell my wife i used one of the black pillow covers for the windshield when putting the cover on......
...nah, will skip that detail.

My dog loves riding with me on the RT,and when ever I break out her carry bag she immediately jumps in.

I don't have any rain gear yet, but will ride with my nylon pants over my jeans, and see how that works, I do have
the Can-am leather jacket, and with out the lining, it will be perfect today, high of 63 today.

obviously if I experience a downpour i will remove GPS and put rubber boot on, any suggestions
for protecting my leather jacket, seat for the next time, I am leaving shortly. please rain a little.

Oh and yes I will be very cautious for all the insane drivers and allow more stopping distance for my :spyder2:.

Looks like you have beautiful weather down there, not so sure about the rain... but may it fall on ya if you want it. ha-ha, keep that little puppy from getting wet. Neat little guy(gal?).

Nice looking RT!

Cheers from Newfoundland.

We carry a couple of big black trash bags with us to cover the seat when it rains. Not pretty, but they work. Put one over the back, then slip one over the open seat from the front, then latch the seat. We even do this when the cover is on, to keep condensation and blown in spray off the seat. Hoping that someone will come up with a decent rain cover for the seat soon! As to the jacket, you could use a waterproofing product such as Nikwax. At any rate, cleaning and conditioning afterwards with a good leather conditioner like Lexol is a good idea.

Scotty:lecturef_smilie:, not gonna happen we are adjacent to Beverly Hills, guess i will just rough it.

Well today it only sprinkled for me :(, just enough that i am gonna have to micro lemon pledge her some more :D

I plugged in the routes to all4 locations I went to, and this is so much fun, tells me the posted speed and all the street names, and the mph is always 1 mph slower showing on the GPS, gotta do some more reading up on the 660. I added another 107 miles today:yes:

I do have another question, when would it get dicey being on the spyder that the wind could effect you
staying on or altering your intended direction? How many mph ie: if I am going 70 on freeway and the cross wind is 30 mph, is that ok?

ok, gonna go protect my leather

Sorry to hear it only sprinkled on you. :D

I am not sure about the RT in a strong crosswind. I have been on my Spyder in 20 mph cross winds and it did not alter the course of the vehicle. It buffeted my upper torso and head pretty well, but the Spyder stayed on course.

Believe me, the Spyder is way better in a crosswind than a bike! I have not had my RT-S out in any stiff winds yet, but our GS has weathered 40 mph sustained winds with gusts to 60 just fine. Fred Rau survived hurricane force winds, that tipped over a semi trailer, on his trip across the US, two up, with the RT-622 trailer. It takes a little adjustment, and you may experience some drifting as the wind tugs at your arms, but you won't be riding at a 45 degree angle, only to have to suddenly go upright again as you pass a big rig and lose the wind for a moment. Best way to learn to ride in weather is to ride in weather.

.....Oh, and buy yourself a good motorcycle rainsuit or some Frogg Toggs. You will not be sorry.

:agree: I have a friend who owns a Harley, and he put some of those solid wheels on it. He has told me several times now that was a huge mistake, as the wind really pushes on those. He is too stubborn to go back to the stock wheels it came with though.

The Frogg Toggs are great, and seem to work much better if you wear the hood as well. ;)
