• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

HOPE to make it to the smokies as planned!

I was riding and started hearing an unusual noise....... I'm right at 15k.

I thought something was going bad with my clutch, but I could hear a rattling every now and then that sounded like it was coming from my rear tire area. so I took it in.

The tech who initially rode my spyder thought the rear wheel bearing was going bad.

The next tech said he thought it was the clutch.

Well it was closing time so they said I needed to leave it.

I got a call this morning,,,its my transmission bearing. :gaah: I'm suppose to be leaving for Gatlinburg on the 19th. They have to lift the engine and split the transmission to clean it out and change the bearing, and hope nothing else is damaged.

I forgot to ask them....does the oil there transfer into the cylinders or are those different chambers? Am I in risk of having damaged cylinders from this?

Is there anything that I should make sure they do before reassembling and sending me on my way? I hope to go to Gatlinburg then up to Niagra Falls then back to St. Louis.....I won't have any wear in time it doesn't sound like. They said they hoped to have my spyder ready by the 19th.

Same oil.

.

Same oil supply, but usually the transmissions are fairly separate physically, especially with a dry sump engine. You should get little splash of debris. With luck the drain plug magnets, oil strainer, and oil filter(s) will deal with things. I'd say you have a pretty fair chance of coming out OK. Make sure they clean/replace the oil strainer, and flush the oil tank well, though. If in doubt, have them make a compression check or do a leakdown test.

They can do it I just seen one at a dealer with a complete blown clutch and pieces of clutch in every bearing complete overhaul and the :spyder:is up and running and yes it was covered bye BRP so you shouldn't have a big mess in there :ani29:

Hope you are up and running for The Smokies!

But if for some reason you aren't, you should drive. Especially if you have made hotel reservations and have your heart set on going.

Don't add disappointment to disappointment. If your Spyder isn't ready, GO ANYWAY!!!!!

:lecturef_smilie: YOU MADE ME START CRYING.......I hope I don't have to, but I can make it there on the back of my husbands goldwing. It's just that I have planned this since last year and what REALLY sucks is I turn 50 tomorrow. I was hoping to have a great birthday riding weekend as well. The weather here is just awesome....thank you for the response....You are right, I can't imagine that I will miss the smokies now, even if my spyder might.

If you get stuck riding to Gatlinburg on the back of your husband's Goldwing, I'm sure we could somehow finagle you some of your own ride time on a Spyder. I would let you ride mine for a while on Thursday if we can work the timing out.
