There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Hitch vs Hitch

I agree with everything said here about the problems with a swingarm mounted hitch, however, isn't the new hitch for the RT swingarm mounted? I think it is.

:agree: But all said and done I'd go with the Bush Tec. For all of the reasons stated on swing arm ,bearing stress etc. It has been time tested ,and how long & how much testing was done by BRP.? When just a year ago they were against pulling a trailer. I wouldn't want another update.

Personally, I'm very surprised that BRP has chosen to go with a swing arm mount hitch. No amount of rubber isolation is going to adequately counter the effects of an unsuspended attachment.

I can understand that cost and ease of fabrication plus the lack of interferance with bags, etc., are tempting reasons for this approach to a trailer hitch. But the negatives would seem to override the positives in this case.

It will be interesting to see how this pans out in the long run.

I agree, but I have one problem

And that problem is I have the GIVI R-35 bags and the Bushtec does not work with the saddle bags.

I contacted Bushtec and they will fab one for me with the saddle bags for $379 which is a great price but I'm in Albuquerque and there in Tennessee which is about 1500 miles away. They said they could have it done in 2 or 3 days. I just can't do a 3000 mile trip right now.

There is always good old UPS.

ps. I also have the Givi bag setup from Ind. 7

Does UPS ship Spyders? :D

If I'm understanding correctly, Bushtec can make a custom hitch to work with the Givi bags but needs the Spyder and bags there to get the fit right.

That is correct. I talked to them in daytona last year and they told me the same thing. Just couldnt work a trip from TX into my plans.

Got an email from Andrew of bushtech and they told me the same thing. They would need the spyder for a few days with the Givi bags installed on it to fab the hitch. If it was a little closer, I would send mine. Still might do it when i get back from work next month. That way I can choose between what my welder makes up and a Bushtec hitch

Frame mounted hitch with no bag interference

I have a frame mounted hitch that shouldn't interfere with any bags (I don't currently have any bags installed). My hitch was installed by a company that makes trailers in Golden, Colorado. They normally don't install the hitches themselves, but they used my Spyder to design the hitch. The hitch works great and looks great. The trailer, on the other hand, has had some design issues and is currently being re-engineered. My trailer has already been modified for the design changes. I've put over 1,000 miles on the trailer and it pulls great. I'm adding a couple of pics to attempt to show how my hitch is installed. Obviously, this location would require the tongue of the trailer to come up much higher. My trailer tongue is adjustable and can be attached to a car or moved to the upper position for my Spyder. I'll be glad to answer any questions anyone may have.

My dealer was going to sell those trailers last spring but he got a bad batch of them and was never able to work out a suitable solution to making the trailers right. He's still got two or three of the trailers crated up in his back lot waiting for a resolution from the company. (Adventure Powersports, right?) They did have one of those receiver hitches mounted on a Spyder and agreed that the hitch design was, by far, the nicest part of their whole setup.

That is correct Andrew sent me an email when I inquired and they will fab one for $379 but they need the Spyder with bags attached and 2 to 3 days to get it done, then they will use that one to manufacture more to sell to others who need them. But I think they will be more then $379 the price will be more in line with the price of there current hitch.

If I know this a month ago when it was warmer I would have planned my last road trip to Tennessee, for me it's about a 3000 mile round trip. I did a 3000 mile road trip the last part of September but it was up north and west of Albuquerque. That trip is what made me decide I need a trailer...
