• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Hit Air bag Jackets

This summer a friend and I rented Harleys and rode through Yellowstone. He passed a car and as he was coming back into the lane ahead of the car he somehow overshot and ended up in a ditch on the side of the road. I did not see exactly what happened as I was ahead of him. Anyway, he decided to ride it out in the ditch but he ended up jumping a culvert whereupon the front wheel hit the other side. The bike flipped and he went over the bars. When I got to him the bike was headed the opposite direction and my friend was up and save for a scratch on his forearm unscathed. He was wearing one of these jackets. His daughter and wife are active in the equestrian life and evidently they are used there as well. The Harley did not fare well, both bags shattered, the front wheel shattered, the transmission case cracked, the mufflers were both dented and effectively the dealer totalled it. The flatbed out of Yellowstone and back to the dealer was $1k by itself. I believe he said the vest cost $450.00 or so.

My wife and I have had them for 6 years or so. I have one for winter and a mesh one for summer. Hit Air- not one of the many imitations. Have not actually fired (used) one but good to know its there.

"The Hit-Air System guarantees the safety and security of motorcycle riders."

Sounds like they'll be sued out of existence soon after making that claim.

Air bags

I had a version of these for flotation devices while boating. Well, we figured out that they are not practical in our high humidity area during the summer. When stored, they would inflate all by themselves. Hmmmm....Just saying.

probably because you had the auto inflating version that is activated by water. It is meant to inflate if you fall in the water. Humidity can set them off.

I have 3

I have a winter jacket as well as 2 vests. It is probably crazy but the concept is good, and if it offers a bit of extra protection, I like it. I have had people offer me $25.00 to see me "inflated" in it, but do not want to have to repack it. They are not cheap but than again, a lot less expensive than the medical bills they could potentially save. I especially like the collar, since it could help protect the C-spine.

Will it work as I expect? I hope to never find out, but as I said just the idea that it could save some injuries convinced me to get one.

I do have one and wear nothing else. The only distributor, if he remembers me, said that spyderlovers could get a 50.00 discount. I've had mine for about 3 years. It has a great liner for colder weather and it's quite sporty.

Order a size or two up...they're cut quite small.
