There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Hints on Hooking a Radio to a 2008 GS Roadster - HELP needed

Can anyone give me some ideas how to wire/hook-up a AM/FM radio that I bought on ebay.
This is just a cheepee radio, I am sure you have all seen them on ebay.
This is designed for motorcycles.
Should I wire it to the battery or the fuse box for power. I am concerned that if I wire it to the fuse box it
might set off some codes or something.
The other question: What would be a good spot to install it on. I am thinking on top of the plastic dash between the windshield
and dash.
The other thing is the speaker's have a clamp for round handlebars, and mine are not.

So, if ANYONE has any suggestions, ideas, etc. let me know.

Thanks for your time and help.:thumbup:

The stereo is a Sound Radio System FM/MP3 Stereo , 2 Speakers for motorcycles 12V by Crave Gear.

Need some pics

I have a pioneer head unit ( car ) mounted in my trunk. I operate it with a remote on the bars, via a repeater cable which allows the two to " see " each other. Without seeing your equipment it's hard to say where to put it. i would definately add a seperate fuse box to keep the stereo out of the bike's electrical system.

That is some system. I don't know if I want to get that involved. It looks very high tech.

You might be able to zip tie the radio unit to your handlebars, without the big mounting bracket. The speakers might mount to the dash vents with a different, or additional bracket , or you might be able to mount the speakers on the mirror arms.

The system has an in-line fuse.
Here is a picture of what it looks like.

The electrical won't be an issue, use the in-line fuse and just find 12+, just ground the "black" wire to the frame anywhere. You could add another fuse block if you think you will add other stuff. You could make it as simple as using a power plug if you have already installed one or more of those. Just get a plug and wire it to the radio.

Your big pain I would think is where and how to mount it and the speakers. You will probably need to DIY brackets to mount it. Make sure that where you think you will mount it, won't be in the way of the handle bars in a turn. I made that mistake not once but twice.

Let's see..!!

you can connect to the unused fuse spots on the fuse box. Or as mentioned above your power outlet or direct to the battery. The speakers will need more attention. Shouldn't be too tough...

Boy, I tell ya, when you put a lot of great minds together, man do you get results. I would like to thank everyone who has responded and who will respond for all your great ideas.:bowdown::bowdown:
