• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Highway Pegs Question

Has anyone ever explored putting pegs off the front fenders?

I'm tall so my legs can actually reach the fender and I was wondering if a bracket had been thought of that wraps from the inside fender support bracket bolts to the back side of the fender where a peg can be attached? Are the fender support brackets strong enough and other pros / cons?

Thoughts?

YIKES...!

DANGEROUS was my first thought..... :yikes:
pegs, if not designed correctly, may interfer with body side panels...
fenders most likely were not designed to support the weight or force of a leg pushing on them...
last and most important; in turns you may lose your footing and terrible things can happen when this happens...

i'm 6'2" and i know what you're talking about... i built my own Foot Pegs for my '09 RS (which model do you have?) and they work exceptionally well... actually, a manufacturer at a SPYD3R event took pictures of mine and asked me all the questions on how i built them... i have yet to see them advertised on his website...

try making your own... it's half the fun of owning a SPYD3R....
PIX to help you visualize....

if you have an RS, give some consideration to Floor Boards as well... with 3 positions for my feet, i never get cramps or tired during long rides...
PM me if you'd like more info.....
good luck...

:agree: Those wheels are reacting to surface irregularities all of the time.
It'd be pretty easy to get your foot dislodged from the peg, and caught somewhere unfortunate.

Thought about it...

then decided against it. I though of a resting point not so much as a ryding position. There is little to work with to make a solid sturdy mount and as mentioned above could be quite hazardous if it fails. seems several of us have thought about it....

Existing designs

There are now two styles of highway pegs available. I would seriously look at those. The newest style is very adjustable. Both from LaMonster.
i purchased mine at Pit Bull.

I am 6' 4" and I too can put my feet on the fenders. When I was first looking at pegs I too thought even the Lamoster pegs would be too close. I bought a set anyway and they worked out perfectly! BUT... I also have the comfort seat which moves you back 2" more.

I didn't say all thoughts were solid the first go around... haha!! It's like that old saying... "the famous last words of a Redneck... Watch this!"

I've got some renewed spirit and will be searching many of your suggestions! thank you!
