• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Went to a GREAT Museum Yesterday...

The Missus and I decided to stretch our legs a bit, so we pointed the bike to the Southeast, and headed toward the Submarine Force Library & Museum in Groton Ct.
I'm not the biggest fan of droning along on an interstate for hours, so Route 84 tested me a bit...
But it was WORTH IT! :D
This Museum is the place to see if you're interested in, "The Silent Service".
The SSN 571 is docked there, and open for visits. I've been fascinated by the Nautilus ever since I read a book about it's trip under the North Pole...

Another facet that I found interesting, was the number of retired Navy members, who were volunteering their time to answer questions about all of the exhibits that were on-site. These guys spoke with great pride and emotion; it was tough to not be proud of them!

It was a decent day's ride for us (394 miles), but it was definitely worth it! :2thumbs:

(Pics to follow!)

I have a friend up in Spokane, Wa. who retired from the Navy submarine sevice, the whole time.
I have a lot of respect for him. I told him I would stick to my foxholes in the Infantry lol.

When I was Flasher we were in the yards at Mare Island getting refitted when Nautilus was being turned into a museum. Many of our crew did their reenlistment ceremonies on her.

Was really 'odd' feeling many years later when I was on Greenling in Groton, going to see the finished Nautilus museum.

Our shop produces a number of Items for the Nautilus"s ship store, Retired Larry K. manages the store, and it is always interesting to chat with him. (He has a few stories to tell) As expected there is a wealth of information on line.

2010 Spyder RT

I recently switched from 87 octane unleaded to 89 octane and my mileage has increased from 33-35 to 34-36+/_. I feel that the response in the engine has improved, especially the low end. By the way this is with a standard transmission.

Last week, I got 38 mpg with Petro-Canada super 94 octane. It's the best I obtain since 2010 and my RT HAD 82500 kilometers (51,263 miles). Maintain 60 mph on highway.
