If you are going to get hurt on a M/C or ? it will be getting hit from behind or some one making a left turn in front of you. These two top the list.

Jack, you are correct, however it does not always save you. In 2001, I was at a stop light with my feet on the ground on my 1995 GW 1500. I had the flashing stop light. I saw this pickup coming several hundred feet back and figured he would stop. I was watching the light to change. He did not stop. I have the stop lights on both my GW 1800 and Spyder. It is safer for sure, but as we know, not fool(s) proof.
FYI: He was a 21 YO with a 20 YO girl with him and did not apply his brakes....Knocked the Wing 20' and me 30'. I was solo but had I had a passenger, they would not have done well. It pushed the trunk against my backrest and jammed the drive shaft into the transmission case. They had to tow the pickup away with bent front axel. I only had six ribs broken and road rash....I was 1/2 mile from home and the policeman took my helmet to my home and told my wife that I was on my way to the hospital. With three huge gashes in my helmet, he told her I would not be here without the helmet and protective gear.
I know you were hurt but sounded like it could have been worse. Glad you are OK. Murphy's Law is always present and we cannot stop it all.
I met you at the Hill Country ride last year. You have a couple of years on me.
