• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

High Intake Air Temp Fault

Yesterday I was riding with 2 other Spyders they are both 2011 RT SE5 and I have a 2010 RT SM5 the temperature was around 104 we rode about 10 miles and stopped for around an hour. When we were leaving one of the 2011s had the orange screen with check engine. The fault code was P027 (?) which is the high intake air temp fault. She had also got this fault on Friday and we checked her coolant and it was a little low and she was also very low on oil. Even after topping off the fluid she still got the message again on Saturday.

I have read other threads about this and I don't see that there is a fix other than riding it at speed to cool it down. My question is why does this happen to one Spyder and not the others when we are riding in the same conditions and at the same speeds?

I had that happen the other day. Fluids were all good but my temp gauge read 128. I had not been riding. When I got on the engin light came on drove it right to the dealer. They cleared the codes and said that the sensor is located up front where it gets hot and takes time to cool down even though the engin is ok it still sends a fault code I don't know what you do but let it cool down. I had no trouble with the bike

It did happen to other Spyders

It happened to myself and a friend just last week when it was 104 OAT. We both have 2012 RT's and the circumstances were them same as yours. With in 3 minutes of leaving a restaurant parking lot my screen started flashing orange and the engine icon came on, I pulled over in a median and told my friend of my problems and that I was going to the nearby dealership. My friend told me good because he just got the same indications just before I pulled over. The dealership mechanics put us both on the computer and noted that both of us showed a recorded high heat of 127. After coolant checks and top offs we both left with no problems. Both bikes had less than 600 miles on them.
